First off we should have new coach in place. Secondly we should have a better idea on conference realignment and if the dominoes can fall right for Siena. . Here is where it stands right now
The C7 have officially broken away from football schools. As of this morning no invites to new potential members have gone out and probably won’t till at least this week, when the presidents and AD of C7 are together in NY. At that time we should have a better idea. If only Butler and Xavier go, a10 will only be down to 12 teams and will probably stand pat at least for now. If however Butler and Xavier leave for next year and some combination of St Louis, Dayton and or Richmond put in notice to leave in 2014 season – and reason that would happen is penalty for exiting conference goes way down if you give two year notice, then A10 would be down to 10 teams and would likely expand.
If the A10 did expand there are several candidates, George Mason, Belmont, Charleston, Davidson Northeastern. And if the A10 does lose Xavier- Butler, St Louis, Dayton ( already lost Temple and Charlotte) most A10 fans won’t be happy with any of the replacements candidates..sort of how we feel about Monmouth and Quinny;)
But if had to guess George Mason and Siena would be top 2 candidates ..if not for the program wrecker Siena would be a slam dunk, but anyway likely Siena wouldn’t go to A10 till 2014-2015 season, which wouldn’t be a bad thing giving new coach a full recruiting season before we go into a10 and like I’ve said a lot of dominoes have to fall before we even think about that- but it certainly is in realm of possibilities
