I am certain the issues that plagued the team due to the Covid virus were major contributors and when you add that to the transfer rule change kids were already standing up and focused on grabbing the brass ring wherever that might be...no way this is on Carm, the Program OR Siena... Agreed for the most part but the fact that the men's basketball team alone had three outbreaks has to at least partially fall on Carm, the Program, and Siena.

If you want to blame colleges in general that seems reasonable. About 20% of the NYS college population contracted Covid 19. Siena did better than the average at just under 15%. I don't know how may cases were in the basketball program or even how many people are Tier 1 in the basketball program. Let's assume it is at least 30, players, coaches managers, AD staff, trainers etc. If that is the case 6 cases would be the 20% average. We had three stoppages even assuming 2 cases per stoppage that would be the average. So who knows if anyone is at fault except the virus itself? If we learned anything from the pandemic, it is the virus always wins. It's just a case of how big the "win" is.

Do you think there might be some level of difficulty involved in keeping tabs on fifteen or so mostly teenagers twenty-four hours a day for seven or eight months? Things that coaches and administrators simply can't control?

But if you can't get their attention after the first time that starts to become a problem and for it to happen two more times there has to at least be a share of the blame placed on the program. Fact is, Siena was the second to last program in the country to play a game. They were in the bottom percentile of college programs facing the same circumstances.

It could very much be an Albany County thing, since Siena Women ,U Albany Men and Women's teams all had the same number of shutdowns. Could be the test supplier. I have read several reports that a high percentage of positive tests were false positives and believe this to be true. The more prominent sports teams could easily get over positive tests. Nick Sabin had a positive test but got it cancelled out with a negative one. I read on this board that Monmouth thought they had a positive test and shut down for a day until they cleared it up. Not having any symptoms I would have never gotten a test. However, I needed surgery in February and had to be tested (not in Albany county). Not being a scientist I thought my test was a joke. The tech twirled a Q-tip around inside each nostril without touching any surface. I was allowed to have the surgery so I guess I tested negative. To comment any further would lead to politics.

I’m going to be a selfish Siena fan here.
I really don’t care what players or coaches want to do when it’s best for “them”; I only really care when it’s best for Siena and the fans that root for Siena.
Thank you Jalen for your contribution for Siena but I really don’t care where you move into to because I’m a Siena fan; not a fan of where you’re going to.

Basketball wise, Penn St is pretty weak for a P6 program. Any NCCA significance? Produce any pro players? Any real basketball success at all? I mean because of a great football program and a P6 affiliation, of course they're better than any MAAC school, but thats still not saying much.
I was really hoping he ended up at a top 25 program to test his skills, and get a chance to play in the tournament.

You're right, Penn St is not a given to get to the tournament by any stretch, but as you say they are better than any MAAC team. In fact every power 6 team, even the last place team is each conference was rated higher than any MAAC team in kenpom this year and most years. When the best teams in the MAAC were top 100 they might have been better than the last team in a power 6 conference, but even than it was a close call. Sure on any given day a top MAAC team might beat a lower rated Power 6 team, but they could not compete on a consistent basis.

Maybe "program" wasn't the right word, as you say being in the Big 10 means it's perpetually the better program by financial resources. Perhaps I should have said, "team with greater chance of making NCAA tournament" Ironically, Talor Battle was going to be my very example. How many tournament games did he win at Penn St?

I believe that Penn State only made it to the NCAA tourney in Battle's senior year and lost to Temple in the first round, and that was their last appearance.

Penn State: — Every game on national TV — fly charters for games — compete in best CBB conference — Massive party school (a life I know Jalen enjoys) — Better student-athlete experience — Coach who worked closely with Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown — starting role — 3.5 hours from home
Siena: — Slightly better chance at NCAA tournament bid — starting role — 3.5 hours from home
Someone please help me figure out the better opportunity!

Plus, the know on him is athleticism. If he wants the NBA, he has to prove he can compete with better athletes. Penn St gives him that. (And I am not saying he is an NBA guy, just that he aspires to be) Penn St is a huge step up and the right move for Pickett.
