Marist beating up on Saints women after one quarter, 20-2. Score was tied 2-2. Since then, Saints have committed eight turnovers. I realize that they are not at full strength, but this is hard to watch....take.....believe.

It’s getting better. Saints down 34-20 at the half.
Marist substituted liberally in the second quarter, but still had a couple of starters on the floor throughout.
Saints shoot 27% from the floor, and 23% from three. Had a couple of air-balls, a shot clock violation and five shots blocked in the half, but only one additional turnover in the second quarter.
Saints not very athletic, and don’t seem to have much BB IQ. Marist is a much better team, but they’ve been pretty sloppy today, too.

Saints had the deficit down to six, but ended the quarter down ten after giving up two easy baskets under the hoop. Maybe they’re getting worn down. Second game in twenty-four hours, with only nine players.

Saints fell apart in the fourth quarter, giving up several 3s, and just playing very sloppy basketball. Were outscored 17-11 in the final quarter, including a basket at the buzzer. Scored 44 points in both games this weekend. Missing their leading scorer (19 points a game) for both Marist didn’t help
Nice to see President Gibson at the game. He retrieved a loose ball nears the end zone stands at one point. Handled it flawlessly!

Two tough games to watch coming after that 1 pt loss w only 6 players... for the life of me I can’t understand their abysmal free throw shooting (compared to Marist) which can be worked on individually by themselves

Not having Young available this weekend put Siena at a huge disadvantage in this series. Subtract Young’s offense (she has accounted for 32% of Siena’s scoring in the 5 games she has played) combined with Marist’s exceptional scoring defense ranking 5th in D1 was just a bad combination for the Saints Giorgis picked Siena to finish 4th on his coaches preseason projection ballot. You can’t be that far away from being competitive, at least in his mind. Hopefully the Saints can get the rest of their games in and have regular practices heading into March.

I loved how the team fought back yesterday and got within single digits. It would have been hard for Siena to beat Marist, even at full strength - this year, due to the lack of practice and games Siena Women have had this year. I would have liked to see how competitive we would have been with a full team (including Julie who we’ve missed all year).
Marist is by far the best team in the MAAC, this season. I also think Siena is not as bad as their record indicates.

Ali has been a bit underwhelming as a head coach. While I will pass judgement this year due to the pandemic, ya think D'Argenio will finally axe her next year?

I say this on the men's side if a coach at siena has two losing seasons in a row that coach is never successful at siena... not sure it is fair to compare on the women's side with different resources/priorities but Ali did have those two losing seasons right in the beginning and has been up and down ever since with no huge accomplishments to date to my recollection.
