Sad day for baseball in the Capital Region. Guess high attendance numbers didn't persuade MLB to make the Valleycats an A level franchise.
Frontier League or Atlantic League are options.

Can you give me a sense as to how the level of play will compare to the previous astros affiliation? it would be very low A ball, not up to the level of the Valley Cats as previously constructed (seen a bunch of games involving NJ Jackals in Montclair and Rockland Boulders in NY).............however, with each MLB team only have 4 franchises available for their minor league affiliates, it could potentially put a number of players with possibly better talent that don't make MLB minor clubs in these type Independent leagues...............I guess it is a wait & see how things develop...............

Ok thanks. I think I'll check out a game. I assume better than the college league that played at that small field I can't remember the name of?

The Atlantic league provides good entertaining baseball considered to be between hi-a and double-a affiliated ball. I have not seen a frontier league game but assume it is around that same level.

Right down the same path as Heritage Park....smh That's the one! Heritage Park wasnt small. It was the Yankees AA team by the airport. You might be thinking of Bleeker Stadium??

Bleeker down the lines are almost the same as Yankee Stadium.

I'll say this:
If we can continue good fan turnout and maintenance of the Joe, with hopes of expanding the seating capacity in the distance future, we could have a shot of affiliated baseball again in this area. Let's see if Binghamton can keep their Double A team...
The Frontier League is a huge league for sure, and I heard the play will be better than what we saw in the NY Penn league.
I'm hearing rumors that formerly the Staten Island Yankees will head to the Atlantic League- they are suing the Yankees right now since they lost their team.

Valley Cats just announced they're suing MLB, and the Astros, for $15 million since being dropped as a minor league affiliate.
