After what happened to the Big East-I talked to one of my friends who works for WFAN- he said that Siena has a "GREAT" Opportunity to join the A10 -in his words..." if they want it it's theirs. They just have to be pro-active ! "
E-mail and call the Admn. to make it happen !

If Siena was dominating the MAAC, I would agree a move to the Atlantic 10 would seem plausible. Let's not forget that LaSalle left the MAAC for the A10, and they haven't been heard from since.

La Salle has been competing in a league with Temple, Xavier, Dayton, and Charlotte for years and now they are gone. The A-10 just became much more managable for La Salle and now Siena. La Salle actually has found a way to compete in this league now with a nice mix of players and should get to the NCAA finally after leaving the MAAC. Siena could do the same with the new A-10. I think both the A-10 and Siena would be stupid not to create a marriage. There are now more schools like La Salle and Siena than not in the league if Siena comes aboard. I think it would would work for both quite well.

If Siena was dominating the MAAC, . you mean like going say 39-3 over a two year period against the MAAC?

Will be interesting for sure what happens the A10 will be a 12-team league next year and then likely a 10 team league starting with the 2014-2015. Who knows what their plans are and how many teams they want. I doubt they'll go back to 16 but probably will want more than just 10 (in case UMass, for example leaves in the future).
After George Mason.. I think we've got the most to offer.
But we first need to get our beloved program back on track before ANYTHING else!

No matter what conference Siena ends up in, they are going to be a bottom team for a few years. Fran left us and Mitch with nothing, it is going to take a few good recruiting classes to make it back to the top. Get used to around 10 wins or less if they make a big jump, staying put in the maac might be the best for the win total so you fair weather fans can buy your tickets.

I think your taking the wrong angle or view on fair weather fans.........what most staunch supporters have taken issue with is how Mitch has run the program, failed to follow through on the style of play, fumbling over the microphone constantly whenever in front of the media, at the end of the day a coach is likely judged by wins & losses, but most long time fans would still be positive if the team/program was improving/moving forward, and playing an exciting brand of basketball...........that has NOT been the case with good old arms folded over his chest Mitch............sure some folks only come to see a winner, but the core season ticket holders have been there through it all, they have alot more saavvy to know when they have been taken for a ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea lets keep blaming it on Fran and not Mitch. Im just saying, Siena making a move now to the A10 it will be a long time before you see a winning record, no matter who the coach is. The only way you could see a winning record quicker is to hire a coach who knows how to cheat a little with some recruits, but thats not Siena's style.

(stop) even if you accept what you are saying is true (it is not), Mitch is leaving the program with nothing four recruiting classes later.

I think the timing is perfect for Siena to upgrade its league status to the A10. There will be no expectations right out of the gate and this ill give the new coach a couple of years to recruit the caliber of players Siena will need to be competitive in this league. While this goes on the fan base/sponsors would come back to see the higher level teams/basketball being played at the TUC.

One recruiting class is enough to turn a team around. There are no scholarship limits year by year anymore, and Siena does have some good role players already. If a good coach is hired, Siena should be contending next year.
