I think that there are apartment like student housing units at Siena and that basketball players have lived in them. Maybe it took more than one year of attendance to move into one. Yeah, I always assumed those were for upperclassmen based on some sort of lottery or "seniority". Probably a quasi-lottery system since Siena has gone to tiered housing rates (range $9800 - $12800) … (which I wasn’t happy about - another example of the haves & have nots) … prior to that housing lottery was based on seniority with Freshman winding up mostly in Ryan or Hines Hall … I’m sure Siena is not unique in using living arrangements to attract and fill freshman class

I lived in...
Freshman: Ryan double then Hennepin double 1st floor Sophomore: Hennepin double 1st floor Junior: Hennepin 4-man Suite Senior: Cushing 6-man Village Townhouse
I remember Freshman basketball players got Hines Hall rooms, which were doubles but most rooms had sinks.
Siena on the whole needs to do something with Ryan/Hennepin/Plasmann/Hines Halls...they need to be renovated big time.
Padua/Sydner/Townhouses are good upper level housing,however...

I was Hines freshman year and then townhouses for the next three as a football player. Class of 2001 and Hines was old when I was there in 1998-1999

My senior year at Niagara I lived in the "new dorm" at that time unnamed. Now it is almost ready for demolition. My freshman year I lived in a dorm that was almost 100 years old and it is still being used with some minor facelifting. So Siena is not at the bottom of the MAAC in housing.

Going to age myself. First three years in Ryan. Senior year in what we had at the time for "townhouses", in a six-person apartment at Lakeshore Apartments, a few miles off campus. Three of my roomies were sophomore basketball players, Doug Poetzsch, Chuck Brower, and Brian Smith. A neighbor at the time there was Bob Kovachick, Channel 10 Weatherman. His license plate said "WEATHER". Is he still on TV? Times have changed!

Seems like we have gotten a bit off topic, with myself guilty as well. Isn't it time for another commitment?

Based on what GMAC said Tuesday night, it appears that he will go 9 for 9 with the kids he brought on campus, which would mean that Ansley Almonor has committed or will commit. That would bring the roster to 12 and it appears that he will hold the 13th 'ship until later.

Years ago, and before the NIL, it kind of made sense. Having an open scholarship in case someone good became available after the fall semester was a legitimate strategy. In the NIL era, where kids generally don’t leave mid season (they just wait until the end of the year and hit the portal) and where you basically have to rebuild your roster every year anyway, keeping an open scholarship makes no sense. Carm was never able to figure that out, I was hoping GMac would. Anyway, it’s just my opinion.

He might have someone he is working on in the portal who hasn't signed yet but might be available in a "later round" sometime later.
