I have some intel but I have to asterisk and caveat the heck out of it. It is 3rd hand info. It is conflicting info. --------------- I have 2 groups of friends, each with different contacts. 1. Group A has indicated that they've spoken to more than 1 Siena board member who indicated they would not break Mitch's contract <panic>WTF</panic> 2. Group B has indicated they've spoken to someone who has been on the search committee who feels they'll be getting a ring soon. --------------- Given the conflicting nature of this I don't know the accuracy but I'd suggest that anyone thinking of renewing NOT do it early.
Item 1 doesn't make sense to me given that they've previously bagged Lanier and Beyer BUT I believe there were extenuating circumstances beyond basketball in both those cases.
Additionally, #1 could make sense if a conference move was perceived as inevitable but not locked in. IE: let's say C7 or A10 are on the table but not that far along - maybe a year out. Do they get a new coach today or wait for a bigger coach in year? Alternately, let's say they move for the '13-'14 season. Do they let Mitch take the beating on year 1 knowing it is a loser sort of like UA did with their coach when the moved to D1?
All I know is, if they are even remotely thinking of keeping Mitch they need to get a message really loud and clear that the fan base won't go for that.

All due respect Glen.. I think you (and your "sources") are thinking too much. Siena simply can't afford to bring Mitch back. It has nothing to do with getting invited to a bigger conference (actually all the more reason the program HAS to get cleaned up ASAP)
What was Lanier's extenuating circumstance? Players transfering? This guy has had a boatload too!

That said, I have every intention to renew my season tickets as long as the program is still committed to success, and I have every intention to wait for the postseason to make sure that the program does what it has to do to maintain its commitment to success.

It would be public relations nightmare if Siena had Mitch back. Not to mention.. we would be laughing stock to the NCAA and the MAAC.
I call on Season ticket holders to wait till a move is made at head coach - and it better be someone that leaves NO DOUBT IN THE MINDS OF FAN BASE. It would send a clear messege to Siena- GET YOU HOUSE IN ORDER !

As I said, I'm only offering the info as it was presented to me. I acknowledge that it is conflicting and suspect. My only point is the same as Siena03... don't renew early so there is no doubt what hangs in the balance.

Understood and will not be renewing tickets until I know if a head coaching change is being made for next year. Hopefully this will surface in about another 12 days.

Well pressure must be put on the Admin. by the Siena community via calls and e-mails ! We want change or we will not renew our season tickets - MONEY TALKS !

To be fair Glen isn't a troll...he's a good poster who's been around. But I think this idle speculation is just that. Everyone knows Mitch is gone with the exception of maybe Mitch himself. Nobody inside of Siena is going to admit that to some random people until it actually happens.
I had season tickets from 2006-2010 but did not renew the past two seasons. I will wait to see who is hired before deciding about getting season tickets again or making ANY financial commitments to the program.

Of course Glen is a good poster. Let me say this about that. Rumors are bound to fly—after all it’s not like Siena is going to say anything. In the absence of a formal statement from Siena rumors will fly—lets start with Mitch’s buy out.. Who said he has a buy out and if he does how much is it for? Just because you have a 4 year contract does not mean you have a 4 year GURANTEEED contract.
If people want to wait to renew on their tickets it’s perfectly understandable – I am 100% confident the program wrecker is toast right after the season… like many have said firing him once isn’t good enough- wish we could fire him twice ..;just use your head people.. Mitch is toast in two weeks

My understanding from my source (who was one of the people involved with hiring Fran McCaffery and is in the know about these things) is that Mitch is toast and that the altercation with OD was the final nail in his coffin. Some BOT members might indeed not be in favor of such an action as Glen indicates, but that won't prevent it from happening. Things could theoretically change in the next 2 weeks I suppose, but as of today Mitch is a dead man walking.

There is NO WAY Siena could justify bringing a coach back off three straight losing seasons even if he went 15-16 this season. Not doubting what you said but its hard to think the OD blow up was the final nail for Mitch...I think that happened a loooooooooong time ago...more like the cherry on top. Nothing is going to change in 2 weeks. We can win the final two regular games...win the MAAC tournament, win the NCAA PIG and play the overall 1 seed to the wire and Mitch will still be gone...only March 12th wouldn't be his last day but March 25th. We will likely be done by next Saturday...Mitch officially fired on 3/12 and we don't have to even mention his name again and the speculation can begin in earnest for his successor.

Look at what’s going on- the school is absolutely hemorrhaging money with program wrecker in charge. Attendance is down what almost 2000 a game.. times 15 bucks a ticket ..30K a game. And that doesn’t count the 1500 or so season ticket holders NOT showing up for games—who are highly unlikely to renew.. another 30K a game. I won’t even get into empty seats in the premium seating section attendance continues to plummet what sponsor will want to be associated with a loser with little attendance – in short without de-emphasizing athletics – Mitch simply cannot be brought back- and it doesn’t take any inside knowledge – I don’t think many of you realize the damage Mitch has done to the Siena program and it goes way beyond wins and losses on the court

Siena Admin. has lost a ton of respect with the fan base, the MAAC and the NCAA. They honestly look like a bunch of clueless monkeys Attachments:

I should add while I’m extremely confident Mitch will be fired – I agree do not renew early- this Siena administration has done absolutely nothing to earn anyone’s trust
