Guys... it's ALL about the money. Siena basically would have to shut down the program as it is currently run with Mitch back. Move to the ARC and charge $7 a ticket.. they'd lose over half their corporate sponsors, the strategic plan would be gone etc -- for what a 59 year old coach with 8 straight losing seasons as a head coach and who has embarrassed the program? Mitch is 100% gone...the ONLY way there COULD be some debate is if Siena somehow won the MAAC tournament (which is about a million to 1 shot) and even then Siena can't bring Mitch back because college hoops is about four months and not four days.

A lot of schools reassign coaches, in all sports. A quick google search will show you that. That being said, we all know Mitch won't be coaching Siena's mens team next year. Any examples? I can't imagaine any small school really re-assigning a guy that singlehandedly ruined a program. Doing it for a well-liked guy, or someone with a health issue. Having his negative energy around would just hurt too. Wearing the St. Bernard suit at the home games is about the only job I'd let him do next year.

Examples would be : Grambling State, mens and womens after last season, UNC Wilmington in February 2010, Texas San Antonio in 2006, Houston in 2004. UNC Asheville womens coach last year. Western Kentucky reassigned assistant Jake Morton to D of O for this year. Several others, depending on the time period. These are just some I grabbed at a similar level to Siena. If I was Siena, I wouldn't keep him, I was just agreeing it does happen.

Actually, didn't Trina Patterson get another job inside SUNY for a year while she looked for her next gig? It tends to hapen at State schools more than private schools.

Interesting thoughts, guys. Appreciate the feedback. Either way my source is admittedly low yield hearsay that claims a fluke inside track, so I wouldn't get too worked up.
Also - I guess I am technically a troll, though not from another program. Long time Saints fan and grad - I was one of the more active posters for a couple of years (you might remember me as JacqueMo). Was lost in the abyss of an overwhelming new job/city/child for the last 6-9 months - and when I finally come up for air you guys switched all the settings around and I couldn't figure out how to logon with my old UN! Anyways, good to be back, Ill be around.
