The mn has been working for institutions of higher education for the past 35-37 years, all of which have nice contributuons to TIAA-CREF and other pension.deferred comp plans. He has also made very good oney over the years. He'll be fine, and even if he isn't,he will tell everyone he is fine - he is Baghdad Mitch He'll get another job plus his buyout, if he has one, so he should be okay. He can't get to the TIAA-CREF $ until he is 65 though.

I'll admit that I really didn't care that much if we lost the prior games this season, because I wanted Mitch gone. However, now that decisions will be made about being considered for the A-10 or C7, I wanted the bleeding to stop. A loss to Radford and Marist will probably assure a 300+ RPI. I can see how this would make Siena a tough sell to the fans of the C7.
Thanks Fr. Mullen and D'Arg for hiring this guy, your timing was perfect.

He can land an assistant job somewhere if he wants one. Don't think it will be in Iowa though.

An assistants job where? The YMCA? No D1 program is going to him a spot, at his age, with his history of alienating players and staff members.

I agree. An assistant job maybe D II or III where there is less emphasis on recruiting. If not, there is always the National Hobo Basketball Association.

I believe he should land on his feet with a decent assistant coaching position at the D1 level. He is widely known and highly respected by his peers. Coaches, more than anyone, know the differences between being a head coach and an assistant and that some promoted assistants do not do well as head coach. One thing in his favor - there probably aren't many, if any, head coaches or AD's out there who played for him when he was the head man at Fairfield.

Mitch is widely known- he's been in the business a long time-- highly respected... I dont think so. I do agree Mitch will be fine..maybe he ends up in Florida with Rollie... Mitch will be 60 in December

Exactly, Tony. Coaches weren't begging for his services before this debacle, they won't be looking for him now. His reputation gets worse every day and age does count against you as a D1 assistant. He should be fine financially already, people shouldn't worry about him, but his coaching career is over.

Before Siena Mitch was helping Rollie run Cleveland State into the ground and then at UNCG with Fran-- not really sought after asst jobs. Doesn’t sound like a well-respected Assistant to me? Don’t confuse well known with well respected. People “in the know” knew Mitch would run Siena into the ground—but I think most are stunned with the brutal speed and efficiency that Mitch completed his job. It is actually quite embarrassing for the Siena administration As for worrying about the program wrecker-- I could care less. he basically bullshitted Siena admin and Siena fans. He hit the lottery the last 3 years..

You can tell which coaches are well respected in the coaching community by their "coaching tree", how many former players or staff members are working in coaching. Good coaches mentor good coaches. People on here hate Will Brown, but his players and staff members get jobs. Brian Barnes, Kenny Dagostino, Brent Wilson, Josh Pelletier, Jon Iati, Jerrod Knotts. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Hewitts players and assistants are everywhere. Even Laniers. Where are Mitch's?
