How sad is it that the MAAC's best option this year is Loyola, the only team with a chance to enter the NCAA Tournament with less than 10 losses. They would have to win at Tennessee State, at Iona, beat Manhattan and win the maac tournament to enter at 25-9 and likely a sub 100 or sub 90 RPI. That would probably be good enough for a 14 seed or a 13 seed if things fall right, but a poor SOS will likely once again doom this contender to a bad seed regardless.
Canisius isn't going to excite too many reps, especially with 6 conference losses with one of them being to lowly Siena lol.
The rest of the teams would almost certainly garner a 16 seed and resultant blowout in the NCAAs, assuming they get by the play-in game, if any. At least Iona would have name recognition having choked away a large lead in last year's opening round.
So the one team that has a decent chance of getting a "winnable" game has decided to downgrade their basketball program. That says volumes for the state of the MAAC right now.
As for Siena, there is still a small chance to finish last in the conference, last in RPI, and an RPI over 300 at that. At 4-12, the best Siena can do is 8th. They play against Marist and at Iona. Marist is 4-12 and plays at Siena and at Fairfield. St. Peter's is 3-13 and plays at Canisius and at Niagara. Should Siena somehow fall into a tie with SPC for last, it will be close as they split the series. It would depend upon how the top teams do. The drama! Please let it end soon.
