If I had to guess I would say that Chris Casey will be the next Siena men's head basketball coach. Chris brings years of big boy experience as an assistant in the Big East, solid head coaching success and recruiting ties within the metro New York area. It is a bit comical to read suggestions of other posters that propose names of coaches that lack big boy conference experience, lack any ties to local recruiting sources, and and lack an understanding of the mission of Siena College. liupostpioneers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=498&path=mbball

Or wanted Mike Deane to take over for Mitch? The names being tossed around (Paulsen, Toole, Neubauer, Warren etc) are all realistic and fit Siena very well. Casey seems like he has a decent resume maybe he will be considered too who knows? Siena will get a good coach I'm confident..there will be a TON of interest in the job one of the best mid-major jobs in the country IMHO.

"Big Boy" experience? Working under Norm Roberts at St. John's is considered "Big Boy" experience?
Kudos on being part of a 6 year stretch going 81-101 and 32-70 in the big east.
There will be tons of candidates with vastly superior resumes to this guy.

Please let me respond to the above posters:
MTS.... please do not misconstrue what I stated take a moment to reread my prior post to which you reference. What I said was that if at that point in the season (15 regular seasons remained) that if Mitch's team finished 9 & 5 then Mitch could have survived to coach at Siena. Unfortunately Siena has not finished anywhere close to 9 & 5 so Mitch shall be terminated.
brian.... please don't let the fact that Norm Roberts took over a broken program that was headed to NCAA probation and did an admirable job at St.John's. Your attempt to trivialize coach Casey's assistant's position in the Big East is laughable when Casey's you compare Casey's experience with candidates others propose from East Cupcake State, Norfolk State, and others midgets. By the way Coach Casey is coming from the same school that Iona's Tim Cluess got his collegiate head coaching experience at.
Thanks.

When Siena had 15 games left, they were 3-13. If they went 9-5 in there last 15, you created new math because that's 14 games, lmao. If they went 10-5 over that span, that's 13-18, no chance Mitch stays, so your math and logic are flawed. As for Norm Roberts tenure at St Johns, he failed. It wasn't pretty and Tim Cluess was much more successful than Casey, even though Cluess left Casey a strong program.

?.......... Tim Cluess was much more successful than Casey. Cluess was not necessarily more successful at Post than Casey has been at the school. Casey won the Conference title in his only complete season he has had at the school. What more do you want Casey to do. Cluess did not win a championship every season he was head coach at the school. Siena will be fortunate to hire someone as successful as Cluess or Casey.

Apparently you don't even know your own candidate. He's in his third season.

What title has Cluess won at Iona...? I must have stroked out and missed it.
