Catholic 7 TV DEAL
1. The seven schools could be making close to $5 million a year off of the new television deal. 2. The Catholic 7 schools would add anywhere from 3 to 5 new schools to form a 10 to 12 team conference. These new schools would reportedly not immediately get the full $5 million a year deal for television rights that the Catholic 7 would receive. The new schools deal would be roughly half of this at the start. 3. The new conference would be playing their games on the new Fox Sports Channel 1 which is set to make its debut on August 1.

This might be enough to get Paulsen's attention and make a move to Siena!
If D'Arg was in DC it's no coincidence.

The quality of coach interested in Siena as a C7 or A10 school would be much higher than they would have attracted as a MAAC school last spring.

" In the next few months, the league will formally decide what schools it will invite "to the C7.
New Haven Register 2/17/2013
-And you would think that the NCAA is going to put pressure on Siena to make this work -there is way too much money to me made. It has already started with the papers getting wind of this story! Same thing happened with Butler and the A10!
- Dr. John J. DeGioia ( of Georgetown ) did meet with D’Argenio ! My Uncle who works for Georgetown says that negotiations are on going with Siena financially ! So this is story is by no means dead !

D'arg's comments are exactly what one would expect given the circumstances. All he said was noone has contact us and we haven't contacted anyone. Didn't say mind was closed to the idea, did not say absolutely not, under no circumstances, etc. Basically said, "no comment" in a roundabout way.

Guys, if you take the time to read the blogs on the basketball sites of Georgetown, Villanova and Seton Hall, you will come way somewhat depressed. Our blogs about Monmouth coming into the MAAC are very similar.
However, as most note the TUC is the difference maker along with the noted loyal fan base.
Siena can do this.
Fr. Kevin needs to take a poll of Siena alum NOW as to whether they will commit to a donation or buy season tickets if Siena is invited to and accepts an invitation to the new league.
I think that the administration will gain confience in the popularity of the move and the commitment of the Siena fan base and alumni to support it.

Didnt pick up the phone my ass. If there is a possibility of something like this happening you at a minimum pick up the phone and call them and say "hey is there any way we can make this work?".
Siena has an arena with significant seating, a program with decent success in the past, and a fan turnout that until this years debacle has been relatively successful. When you have teams that are potentially in the top 25 coming to Albany to play games, you will be able to get more fans to the arena. Also, with the higher up profile the non conference schedule would most definitely contain more teams who wouldn't be "afraid" to play a good mid major.
Some people see the lack of success as a reason to be against this, but in fact I could see it working to Siena's advantage. Does a coach want to go to a school where most of the games are played on time warner sports or to a conference where games will be televised on the new fox sports channel. Also, could be a good thing with the planned expansion of the "athletic facilities" as well.
The one downside and probable reasoning that this wouldn't work is the fact that the budgets at theses schools are 3-4x what they are at Siena (at least from what I have read). But if you can even come close to making the budget issues work out then this is something that you pick up the phone, skype, fly to visit, buy the other ads new cars, do anything to get away from being a mid major stepping stone.
