Still over 27% unsigned as of a week ago, with majority of signings to Non DI schools. It's getting late, only a few more weeks to find a spot with a ever shrinking pool of landing locations. This in it self will likely reduce the number of players wanting to risk transferring in the future. Gotta be at least 1/2 dozen kids available that would significantly help us.

But at this point are they coming to help in practice as the team is kind of set and roles forming on the team. Most kids want to play so they are better off going down a level and being happy hopefully

Explain to me where they are getting plenty of playing time: Are they jumping our two returning contributors at center, the first of whom is a likely preseason first team guy and the second of whom is at least a league-average big man? Are they jumping the Big Ten and Pac-12 transfers we brought in to play significant minutes at the 4? And if they are better than those four kids… why are they available in July and considering our level? Especially since the Siena staff thinks the Big Ten transfer is as good if not better than the guy they just had who won MAAC POY last year?

Well, the 2 guys that you alluded to at the 4 are really more 3’s that Carm would adapt to play at the 4. I’d say that this year, a good, athletic combo 4/5 might not start but still get plenty of minutes and provide a different look than anyone on the roster could currently provide and next year with Stormo and Gaines gone, there would be even more time and possibly a starting spot. Not all that much different than trying to get Kalu in this year, IMO.

Don’t know if I care about the qty just the 1 or 2 young key guys on your roster that start seeing the bright lights! It’s so easy to move without penalty, it won’t take much to lure young talent away. Stars recruiting out of HS/Prep will be tough to keep. But that’s why you build through transfers. They’ve already had their free sitout and now would have to sit a year if they moved again. Carm has a good system/philosophy/plan as GoldSaint said below. Hopefully the sum is greater than the individual parts.

Nothing is ever 100% but one note is that Bobby Castagna is the one who told Carm to go get Stormo in the first place. That combined with Stormo barely playing his first two years makes it more than likely that we get another year of Stormo. 2. Pretty much a 0% chance Kevin Kalu plays for Siena this year. 3. Carm recruited these guys to play those positions. He recruited Gaines to be like Camper. He recruited Kellier to play the 3/4. You don’t have to like that philosophy, but that’s what they did.

Interesting. I had no idea. 2&3. I understand that Kalu is not playing for Siena this year but my understanding is that Carm tried to get him to come this year. While that may be just to nail him down before he commits elsewhere, I thought it may be possible that Carm did see that this year’s roster could use a player with that particular skill set (which we don’t currently have). I agree that with what you said about Gaines, Kellier (and even Johnson) but like I said, if Carm didn’t think a guy like Kalu could help the current roster, why try to get him in this year?

I was under the impression that Carm felt that Kalu’s skill set would be helpful to this year’s team. If that’s not the case, then that changes a lot.

Mini sample, only 2 of 5 St. Peter's transfers have signed and both of those to Non-DI schools. So St. Peter's is doubling the national rate of unsigned players so far. I would have thought Ndefo would have easily found a good option.

The big programs can afford to be picky and look for a shotblocker that can also knock down a free throw line jumper. Would take him at Siena in a heartbeat.

Only 38 players rated better than 2.5 remain unsigned a few rated 4 and most 3 or below. Still over 26% unsigned (about 460) At this point most will likely get no offer or JUCO/NAIA. That is a lot of disappointed kids and should have an impact of future transfers or I would think it would/should.
