One thing I'm guessing he is NOT, is a lazy recruiter. This will be a welcome change. Read an article online that said he’s a relentless recruiter

He has a lifetime .515 winning percentage, I hope this works out. So did Fran when Siena hired him. Only so much even good coaches can do at places like UNC Greensboro and mount Saint Mary's. Look deeper. He inherited a middling program, and after a lengthy rebuild turned it into a NEC power the past couple of years.

I like the fact that Jamion is young (36) and African-American - let's face it that can help relate better to players and recruits. He'll recruit well - he's young and hungry and knows if he does well he'll be coaching in the ACC or Big 10 in 5-6 years.
Siena wanted D1 head coach experience (Beilein in a tweet said that is the reason he was never seriously considered). Other than Pitino and maybe Becker - what more do you want?
Look at the number of buy games MSM had to play last year - @ Notre Dame, @ Marquette, @ Georgetown, @ Pittsburgh (lost in OT)
The year before that they finished 20-16, won the regular season and tournament championship and NCAA PIG round before losing to Villanova. They started the year 1-11 before going 19-4. They played games at West Virginia, Iowa State, Minnesota, George Mason (a win), Southern Illinois, Michigan and Arkansas to start the season. Nine straight road games to start their season. That's insane.
His resume is much more Fran like than Jimmy like. Not even close.
How good will he be? Time will tell but I really like the hire!!
Let's get this announced soon and let him get out on the recruiting trail!!

Came across this...
“Jamion Christian looks to be a good hire. His brand of basketball will be good at TU, he knows how to get mid-major schools to the Dance, and brings the Fr. Mackin connection between Siena and MSM full circle.”

Nothing wrong - I think it's a STRENGTH. A POSITIVE. I used the PC term didn't I? lol Siena has really been excellent hiring minority coaches. Nothing wrong with acknowledging it. Even the PC bros can't dispute that. But it all comes down to recruiting and developing players and of course winning!

One thing that will be an interesting change is Christian's defensive style. MSM pressed virtually every second - mostly M2M but with a lot of double teams. Relentless. From what I saw of Siena when they visited Bucknell, most of the players wouldn't have lasted five minutes playing his style. Not only was Siena a contender for the worst defensive team ever to play in Sojka but the big men were winded inside of 150 seconds of up-and-down basketball. With Christian they will have to get in shape or else stay on the bench.

Much better choice than beilein. Becker was best name, but that was always doubtful. Good hire. Why is he “much better” than Beilein? Beilein brought significant risk in terms of recruiting. He really hasn't had to recruit northeast d1 talent. If his last name was not beilein, what is so great about his resume?

If his last name was not beilein, what is so great about his resume? His last name is Beilein which means he was raised and was/is mentored by a great coach. He has d1 experience as an assistant and has been very successful at Lemoyne. Some would argue that recruiting at the D2 level is harder than d1.
