While I understand that it has been Siena's standard practice to require a list of schools from a player looking to transfer out, I think the present situation should waive that restriction. If the reported timeline is accurate, the first "issue" was reported in February and an investigation was supposedly started immediately. As that investigation progressed, new "issues" were made known. We are now almost at the end of April and the cloud of uncertainty has been weighing on the players for far too long. They reportedly have no access to ANY of their previous coaches - I realize they are all adults and should be well able to exist on their own on a college campus but I do believe they need some guidance re their next steps - stay or explore transfer, to say nothing of the skill and conditioning drills needed to improve their games. I would think that by now either all of the assistants have been found culpable or not. Siena should show them the door or remove the cloud from one or more that the investigation may have cleared. The Administration has had two consecutive dismal hiring failures and I'm sure that doesn't give the remaining players any guarantee that they'll get it right this time. Waiting around and then meeting a coach that might not want you or that you might not like is a big risk, a time dependent one. Since Siena has done what appears to be a poor job protecting these kids, I think they should be allowed to pursue other options. That pursuit could be quelled depending on when the Administration gets off its ass and announces the new head coach. Exams are coming up and these kids need to know what their futures hold. Seems like the hiring process is using the same play Oh-no used to manage the shot clock! Couldn’t be more on target. The current situation lies entirely in the lap of the upper management. Been over 2 months since the first allegations were alledged. History seems to be repeating itself, unfortunately. Siena had no,plan, and seems has no plan for succession of their head coach. One wonders why donations and enrollment is down. Far a Price, good luck to him. Seems like a good young man. Could be those around him may be advising him, but MP is correct, no information kid wants to know what his life will be like. Prince was given the keys to the kingdom by JP, perhaps he fears less playing time. Only Prince can tell us.

Sammy Friday just became the guy....and my prediction.....he won't disappoint. I for one think when given the chance he will produce more than Prince would have. With new coach, and new opportunity, he will shine. A good foul shooter with a good low post game who gets offensive rebounds and can get to the line, if he works hard on his strength and endurance this summer, he will end up being a two year double-double guy for Siena. You could be right but the key IMO, as you too stated, will be his conditioning.

If you haven’t noticed you aren’t watching. Major conditioning issues need to be addressed before he can even begin to give you a solid 8 minutes. If Prince and Penn go the entire roster needs to be blown up. There is a complete rebuild coming.

Maybe that's the intent of the prolonged process...but if that's so you sure as hell don't need three assistants hanging around that can't have contact with the kids anyway.

It’s cheaper to kee them and have them sit in a corner and let the new coach bring in a new team. If they fire them, even with ironclad cause, and lawsuit is more expensive . The real question is why haven’t they left for new jobs? Maybe combination of already bad reps and Siena circus. I would bet 3 our is 4 are out of coaching or at a much lower lever by end of year

For those in the know, aren’t the assistants under contract, and paid til the contract ends expires. Perhaps the admin feels they need to get their monies worth? Maybe they feel they need someone watching the program for them? Could be ineptness and haven’t thought that far ahead. The undeciveness is hurting the program and school.

I wonder if it’s Prince’s side kick that asked for his release? Maybe Penn? This IS dragging on far too long.

MP well done post and greenblood maybe your right on yours. This process of finding the right coach is critical for Siena going forward.I just wish it would have been done sooner and things since handled better.

My thoughts on transfers:
Hope none of the kids leave, but if they do, I'll wish them well.
The ones already looking for a release are the ones most "marketable". They are the ones whose AAU coaches, or High School coaches or "family friends" are hearing from other schools. Some out here are iffy on Prince, I'm not. The reason he has already asked for his release is because one or more attractive destination schools have already begun the process to recruit him.
Siena shouldn't change their policy on blank releases because of this one coaching change. Sets a bad precedence going forward. Many of you cheered when Fran forcefully stood up to interference from Duquense (sp?), why is this any different? Rules like this are in place to keep other schools from interfering with the roster.

Pretty sure Penn already used up his redshirt year. Would think that would make him the least likely player to transfer.
