I’m pretty sure Siena will do everything they can to get a good coach… and Cliff Warren is a good coach. ( not saying he’ll get the job but don’t discount him) There are several very good candidates out there. Siena has some lofty goals for revenue projections for the men’s hoop team- to have any chance of even getting close they must hit a home run with this hire. There are currently between 1000 to 1200 season ticket no shows at most games these days- people don’t like wasting their money. Siena needs to hit a home run to energize the fan base or risk further alienating the fan base

double check that I think you are off a mill on Xavier-- there budget is around 3mill a year.. sounds about right for bonnies I was going by bbstate.com, but it looks like you're right and that site has Xavier listed wrong. That did seem unusually low for such a successful program. This is where you can look up all the original data: ope.ed.gov/athletics/GetOneInstitutionData.aspx

Something to ponder with Cliff Warren's name being brought up - Warren and Bill Coen were both finalists to replace McCaffery. Father Mullen, wanting to remain loyal and to appease certain people, stayed with Buonaguro. From what I have heard, Coen was the 2nd choice and pushed by several people both inside and outside of Siena. Bill Coen has Northeastern 8-0 in the CAA right now after bombing Hewitt today.

Well Siena should do whatever it takes money wise to get either Paulsen or Toole ! They owe it to the players and the fan base ! I'm sure that you're substantial contribution to a fund to underwrite the salary of the next coach will be greatly appreciated. Just knock on Fr. Kevin's door in Siena Hall to get the ball rolling. I thank you on behalf of all Siena fans. Bless you!

Coen would not be my first choice but not a bad choice either. Hoopjunkie was pushing for him when Fran left. Northeastern is scoring a lot of points too so the knock on Coen's team playing slow down might not be accurate. That's a tough job (known as a hockey school). The CAA isn't the same without VCU but Northeastern is dominating the league and are playing very well after struggling early on in their OOC schedule. George Mason fans not happy with Hewitt. And they think Siena fans are unreasonable?

Siena should aim high and see what happens ! Like someone said before this choice must be a homerun !
Top 4
1. Greenberg 2. Paulsen 3. Toole 4. Wojciechowski
- Those guys would scare the crap out of the MAAC ! And send a messege to the NCAA's ! And if Siena has any respect for the fan base ..they will intervew & offer to at least one of those guys !
- If Siena wants to look at other candidates...fine.. but they should have at least done what Fran did at UNCG ! NIT 1st Round- NCAA 1st Round !

See what I dont want is for Siena to settle for the likes of Cliff Warren- just because he might come cheaper. There are much better candidates ! Siena should hire a coach that scares the crap out of the MAAC - and sends a message to the NCAA ! " WE ARE SIENA AND WE ARE BACK !! " I don't think Siena would be "settling" for Cliff Warren. In fact, I'll stick my neck out again and say that he's my top choice; that is, if he is still interested. I've said this from the beginning and I have not wavered. You seem to covet NCAA tournament and NIT appearances. Cliff went to the finals of the Atlantic Sun tournament and ran into a tough Belmont team in 2007-2008-- you know, the one that almost shocked the world by losing to Duke 71-70 in the NCAA tournament. So, basically your argument is that since he couldn't beat the team that almost beat Duke he stinks? If he won that game how many more star players would have committed to Jacksonville? Would Cliff even still be the coach there? Cliff also took the Dolphins to two additional semifinals. That NIT first round you covet? Cliff has one of those, a first round victory at Arizona State, a #1 seed. Throw out the first season when he took over a complete disaster and went 1-26, and his overall record was 91-64 heading into this season, with a lot of guarantee games mixed in. This season they are already 11-11, winners of 4 out their last 5 and tied for first in conference. All of this at a school that did absolutely nothing in basketball since the 1970s. He is known as a top notch recruiter, and should know the area, having served under Paul Hewitt. Frankly I don't think that even matters. Dave Paulsen has won at a school that is a traditional power in the Patriot League. That school has won under multiple coaches, and won games in the NCAA tournament. In his own words, that is why recruits come to Bucknell, and why he came there himself. It is a mutual beneficial relationship. Cliff Warren had none of those advantages when he went to Jacksonville. He has built the program up from scratch. I think Cliff would flourish here. With his recruiting skills, basketball knowledge and proven winning tradition combined with our resources, he would give us a chance to get back our glory days. There's always going to be risk no matter who we select, NO ONE is a guaranteed home run. But sometimes, you have to look beyond the obvious, as there can be a lot of value under the rocks.

Cliff Warren is somoene Siena might get and I expect them to interview him again ! However, there are much better candidates who could put this program back on top in no time ! But it takes the guts on the Admin to get those guys - and do whatever it takes get them! Cheap and easy is not the way to go !

what is the average salary of a MAAC coach?? i have asked this many times, WHY does Siena need to pay double just to get a coach in here?? and i have an answer, because they have F'd up so many hires over the years, no one has ANY confidence in them targeting the right guy and bringing him in... so now Siena is stuck in having to substantially overpay for a more seasoned coach because they have very little room for failure. Or gamble again and see what happens... and dust off the ARC seats.

I don't see how you could make a case that Cliff Warren is a "cheap and easy" candidate. He's very similar in profile to Fran McCaffery before he came here, with the added benefit that he's a past Siena assistant coach. Unlike the Beyer, Orr, and Lanier choices, Warren is already a head coach at a mid-major program. Siena would be a move up for him, and he would need to be paid accordingly (just like Fran was when he started). I would be happy if he was selected.

Here's another endorsement for Cliff Warren!! A GREAT choice! I have no doubt that Cliff Warren will be on the list ! But Siena should not limit themselves ...and do whatever it takes to get the likes of Paulsen, Greenberg or Toole ! The next coach must make Siena one of the best mid-major teams in the country again ! And scare the crap out of teams ! Can Warren do that ? Paulsen, Greenberg or Toole ??
