Did you hear his call at the end of the game? I know following the General is a tough gig, but today AJ called it the way he saw it and I loved it. Meanwhile Scott Knapp was trying way too hard to be PC about Rider. Here are AJ's comments about Rider: "Pretty classless", " From what I've seen of the Rider program, I don't agree with anything Rider does", "This is a joke" "Siena shouldn't shake hands with this team tonight" !!!!! I love it! Good job, AJ!
Rider is so obnoxious - players, fans, announcers, court announcer, and coaching staff, I would even root for Iona if the two teams meet in the MAAC (and Iona is far from my favorite team) . Then there was that crazy replay of EVERY freaking Rider score and you totally missed when Siena had the ball. I had to turn off Bronc vision and listen to AJ - AJ - great job, tonight!

So it wasn't just me. I watched that game thinking, "why am I hating Rider so much??" You named many reasons, but I would add arena (i.e. high school gym with stage on one end), uniforms, mascot, and classless coach. He had them in full court press up by 24 with 3:00 left in the game. His team mobs their benchwarmer on the court after a 26-point win?? Not cool. Of course, you can't deny their talent, which begs the question, how do they recruit this talent to a fake sounding school with such crappy facilities? Wish I would have turned off Broncvision and listened to AJ too.

I would be very careful about calling any other coach in this league classless. Ever think they were still pissed about the way they were treated at the TUC last year or that the decision made to avoid further controversy by getting his team off the floor went viral nationally thanks to our celebrity HC?

I remember the hand shake incident, but what led up to that?

The way I understood the situation last night was that a kid that never gets off the bench got into the game in the last minute and made a 3 pointer and his team mates were happy for him....that is what "TEAMS" do. In the past Siena had done the same thing. As far as I'm concerned...I'm happy for the kid and I think A.J. has blinders on as usual and showed a complete lack of taste. If I missed something please let me know

Remember when we were ripping on Ruland for doing the same thing? Our bench player hit a 3 to get to 100 (I might have exaggerated a bit thTs what in my mind) and Roland went balistic.

If I missed something please let me know Joe has also been the team manager the last three years, busts his tail in practice and his teammates were thrilled he made his first career field goal. I didn't hear AJ's take but imo that is what college athletics is all about. Rider was happy for their teammate not disrespecting Siena.

And rightly so they should have been happy for their team mate. I remember when Jimmy Merrill notched his first basket....these kids deserve kudos as they have shown more drive and perseverance than many elite scholarship players through the years at all levels of D1. Just MHO.

I think what got people to question the basket is that every team holds the ball with less than 30 seconds to play and the other team down double digits, but Rider tosses up a "3" at that moment. But if you are going to stick up for Rider, take a good look at any tape as to how their "Zoo" kids act, how the kids act, their crazed public address announcer, and Bronc vision really starts to grind on you. In terms of rooting for other MAAC teams, Rider is never going to be on my list!
Also, there is a reason the Broncs have never won a MAAC tournament.

Hoops I normally agree with you. It was a statement. A big stick it up yours if you will. They stated Siena fans were throwing things at them leaving the TUC court last year. And then became a mocked viral sensation thanks to our head coach antics. SIENA media did nothing to quell that display. I dont know that throwing things at them was ever disproven. That behavior is NEVER acceptable. Seems to me we have forgotten some things about how some of our fans acted when we were rolling. Putting the ball in the basket is expected and if the bench players are in and shoot in excitement good for them. We have scholarship players who painfully are wide open and afraid to pull the trigger on a shot when we desperately needed to score. Sorry but if I'm looking at the whole thing I can't disagree with them shooting that 3. There are reasons several teams in the league haven't won a MAAC tournament, and to insinuate that it us Karma for bad behaviors or actions is a very slippery slope with the persona that Siena has presented as the face of the College through the flagship Basketball program because Karma is a bitch.

Watched the whole game and saw noting wrong with the bench player scoring those points at the end of the game. Every team does it when the opportunity arises.

I had no problem with the kid shooting the shot.Would have liked the other players after the game to have a little more decorum.Shake hands then celebrate lesson learned.

It was not the single basket at the end that I was against. I have never been a fan of the Broncs over the years - I remember a few years ago, there was some bad blood between the two sides - some hard fouls against the Saints. As for the behavior of our fans vs. Rider, I can't defend that and your point is well made. Thanks for listening to both sides.
