Siena down by 9 at the half; then out scores the Bonnies 44-27 in the 2nd half. Siena forced 23 turnovers, including at least two 10 second counts. Siena’s aggressive D in the 2nd half really bothered Bona. Maddie Sims career high 16 pts was the player of the game. She even got smacked in the mouth/nose twice during the game. The final margin could have been much greater if it weren’t for Siena only shooting 50% from the FT (16-32); while Bona was 11-13. Let’s work on getting the FT % back up to at least 70%. Go Saints!!! www.sienasaints.com/sports/w-baskbl/recaps/111217aaa.htmlSiena lost to Penn St Friday 86-72, but on a positive note out scored the lady Lions 50-37 in the 2nd half. If they played anything like what I saw this afternoon (pressure, speed, energy, etc. they’re going to be not only fun to watch but also should win plenty more games.

A good win for the Lady Saints against an A-10 team, albeit one picked to finish well down in their conference. But it's still an A-10 team. Saints committed only 11 TOs, which is about half what they have averaged in the past. That, the pressure defense, and the FT shooting made a big difference. Nice crowd, too. About 1,100, which has to be the biggest home crowd they've played in front of in years.......by FAR. All in all, an encouraging beginning for the women. Hope they can keep it going.
