Herr Kevin and probably D'Arg did NOT imho do anything close to proper due diligence when they hired Mitch. As others have said, it was a lazy, cavalier, sell out to gratify others with a self intrest to promote Mitch, and BLIND NEPOTISM.
THAT CRAP DOESN'T WORK IN A REAL BUSINESS.
THE BUCK STOPS WITH THE TRUSTEES WHO DIDN'T CHALLENGE HERR KEVIN.
THE DONORS, SPONSORS , ALUMNI , STUDENTS AND FANS NEED TO MAKE IT KNOWN THAT ANOTEHER BLIND NEPOTISM DECISION will not be tolerated.

I agree with most of everything in this thread but there were many posters on here clamoring for Mitch to get the job because they wanted continuity. Hopefully not only Siena but all of us have learned a lesson this time. As Tony said the biggest mistake was either not structuring Mitch's, a 5 time loser, contract right or not pulling plug after year one.
History has shown that no coach at Siena has ever survived two consecutive losing seasons, so Siena should find it within their Franciscan ways to account for this going forward.

Maybe the Bishop can help. From what I can tell Father Kevin and John D have been non-responsive. Howard J. Why stop there? Let's just call the Pope. I believe his number is +1828422646677 (VATICAN HOOPS), ask for Padre.

Siena College doesn't report to Bishop Hubbard. Siena is Franciscan, not diocesan. The religious orders don't report to the local bishops.
The only recourse that Bishop Hubbard has is to declare Siena no longer Catholic (this is something that the Archbishop of New York did do to Marist College), but they're obviously not going to use that power for basketball. That'd be silly.
The Board of Trustees is independent and totally runs Siena. They maintain the affiliation with the Order of Friars Minor. The AD, the President, and the Trustees are the people you'd need to talk to.

Was totally unaware of this hierarchy. Thanks for the info. Guess I need to bone up on by "affiliations"!

The Canisius board stated that this game tied the fewest points by an opponent in the history of Koessler Arena . Our once great program is now the ridicule of lowly Canisius. Herr Kevin looks on this devastaion and refuses to stop the bleeding. When will the trustees elect a new President?

We all know Mitch isnt a good coach but we have to all remember, you cant win games with 20 turnovers, on the road, or otherwise, at home. Doesnt matter. Turnovers has killed this team, along with terrible shooting, zone defense, and the list goes on and on...Combine it w/bad coaching and 4-15 is what youre left with By now, the players should understand that they have to motivate themselves rather than depending on their coach to

I get what you are saying but it has to be extra tough when your coach keeps battering you in the press. I mean it's one thing to say things in house but some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth is outrageous:
"I’ve always said I think it’s easier to coach a team when you’ve got 6, 7 guys." --- Way to have confidence in your bench, Mitch.
"Yesterday he (Silas) was lost. ... Yesterday I called three plays to start the game and he didn’t move." -- Nice.
"Oliver came in yesterday I thought looked a little dazed." --Again, Nice.
"He (Poole) was recruited higher than Siena" This one kills me. I mean, we all know that Siena is not Duke. But you are talking down to your ENTIRE team when you say something like this. What is Siena, a POS? I mean, yeah, it is now, but YOU were suppposed to make sure it was NOT a POS, Mitch!!!
"The other thing is we have a team that’s challenged" --- So is he calling our team Special Ed?
"The team is what it is" --- Umm, isn't that what we are paying you $300,000 a year for, to make them grow as players and as persons? Or are you just there to stand there with your arms folded?
And that was just in the last two weeks, I could go on and on..... Siena is letting this man make a mockery of the program---- and is bringing down a bunch of great players in the process. What a shame.
