Opposing coaches must drool when they are prepping for us! Their scout teams only need to learn how 6 or 7 guys play. Their team only has to focus on their offensive plays against a zone. They can modify their chair drills (use two chairs out top) to mimic our 2-3 "zone" - their entire team can play against it! Three point shooting drills can be extended to replace inside drills. Changes can be made at halftime without having to wonder what changes we will throw at them during the second half. Hell, we might see a five-out, none-in offense before the year is out!
Things I'd like to see right now (other than the obvious one that won't happen):
Require the team to look like a team during warmups - they all must have the same warmups - wear them. Hate seeing one guy in gold T while others are in white T's or the actual warmups the school got for them. We aren't a volleyball team - implement an on court dress code.
HC at least appear to give the assistants some voice at the beginning of timeouts.
Actually do something different following, at least, those timeouts we call!
Abandon the zone when we get down by X-pts (you fill it in). Losing by X plus a few more is still an L but the team will get some time to use the man defense they practice.

At time outs the first thing Fran would do is meet with his asst coaches in the middle of the court and after listening to what they had to say he would approach the team.
To quote Mitch..."I learned a lot from Fran!"

Misspractice: the dress code hits me in a weird way watching it on tv. The walk on is the one wearing a yellow tshirt on the bench. Just shows that there is no discipline because he should be the easiest to tell what to do. Also turing the scouting the other way, would anyone know which assistants have had winning scouts recently? I believe from listening to the call in show last friday that Cansius was Carter and last night was Tobin who seemed extremely lost as to what Niagara did.

Yes but didn't Mitch look imposing standing there with his arms folded?

The hardest part in preparing to play Siena is to convince your team not to be too overconfident. Niagara ran its offense as if there was no defense at all by Siena, which isn't far from the truth.

Misspractice, I agree 100%. I was glad when OD was out of the game. I thought we would see something different in our offense, but I was wrong. It looked the same.

As to dress code, one of the things I remember from "The Fran days" was that the team wore jackets and ties to every away game, and as one of the players explained it, "Coach said, this is a business trip". I remember reading how impressed the staff at the hotel they stayed at in Tampa was with the team during the NCAA trip. They looked and acted professional. They had discipline, on and off the court. Attitude and outlook go a long way in the world.

Good luck with that...You will need one indian rain dancer, one tarot card reader, one four leaf clover, one rabbit's foot, one horseshoe, a rainbow, a pint of moonshine, and a every blue moon. And I promise you, Mitch still wont get it
