Pretty crazy weekend in the MAAC. What I considered top stories:
- Iona wins their 5th straight game. With Laury in the line-up, they seem to be humming. He had 13 & 9 against Canisius in a 97-87 shootout win. A lot of impressive stat lines in that one, and seemingly not a lot of D. Armond had 9 3's and 32 points, Billy Baron has 20 & 11.
- Fairfield lost their 3rd game in a row, all close contests (by 5 in OT Friday and by 3 Sunday). Meanwhile Rider wins 3 in a row after they had dropped 5 straight, most significantly beating Loyola Sunday. - Siena getting off the snide, winning two in a row (!). I agree with most that despite getting the W's, the level of play wasn't significantly higher, they just hit more shots than usual. Still, it was good to see the Freshman get meaningful minutes, and all of them contribute late in the game. Good luck on a tough upcoming road test.
- St. Peters officially look like they are off the tracks. After going 3-0 (and beating Rutgers at Rutgers), they're now 6-10 and have lost their last 4 MAAC games. Oh, and TWO of their wins have come against Central Connecticut State. Are they angling to make a move to the NEC or something?
- In first place is Iona and....Niagara? They won 5 straight MAAC games, and 4 of their last 5, but sandwiched between them is a loss to BROWN. I only watched them play a little bit in the game against Marist, which was difficult to tell if their offense was clicking, or if Marist was just that bad. Might have been a little bit of both.

Look for Fairfleld to win more to end season- FF is only top MAAC team that hasn't played any of the MAAC weaklings ( Siena SPC or marist) in fact 8 of FF last 10 MAAC games are against Siena- SPC Marist and Manhattan

They lost some heartbreakers to decent teams, and are the only team with a winning record that's in the bottom half of the MAAC. It points to uneven scheduling. Also tempo-free stats indicate that they're more efficient beyond their record. Once they play weaker teams their record should catch up with their talent level.
