Let's recalibrate - we are 6-4 at the halfway point and 5 and 1 over the last 16 days. The road win monkey has fled the scene (perhaps aided inadvertently by the fancy new buses Yankee Trails gives us - more leg room, faux leather seats, seat belt, Wi-Fi, charging ports, drink holders - the things that contribute to the comfort of big kids). It is obvious the team is playing with real and imagined weights lifted from their backs - the dreaded Draddy curse the most recent one. The collective product is a winner. JP is visibly different in a few key, IMO, ways - fewer player beratements in front of the player's teammates (the needed message is delivered, many times with the offending player being pulled away from the team huddle to the bench for "counseling" while the assistants deal with the huddled five that will return to the floor, JP then returns to the huddle to coach on a go forward basis), and fewer continued rants at the bench and staff when play resumes, to name only the biggies. The kids, to a man, seem to communicate with each other on a continued basis and they definitely support one another coming in and out of play. If this continues, and I see no reason that it shouldn't, we should be pretty well positioned going into the tournament. Yesterday's game was a hard fought contest, not against one of the current front runners but against a tough, scrappy, hungry and QUICK homestanding team that played that way from start to finish - key takeaway - we didn't take any air out and withstood a few effective defensive flourishes. Lavon was awesome and obviously not well - at one point JP screamed at Hammer asking if Lavon was ok to play - kid was a beast - if he continues to bring this energy, focus and game he'll move from mid-season honorable mention to one of the all MAAC teams. We got solid play from the three freshmen guards - they are getting more and more confident and their games are meshing with the Big Four. Yesterday's game highlighted the quickness of the game at the D1 level and JP coached accordingly - nuff said on that. Bring on the Gals....

Those "intangibles" don't come across just listening to the radio broadcast. And with the upgraded transportation I'll have to consider taking in a few away games.

If they can get through the next 5 games going 2-1 on the road and 2-0 at home for an overall 4-1 record in next 5 games and overall 10-5 MAAC record with 4 of last 5 at home, they just might win this thing.
Coach finally realizing that the Richards kid can put the ball in the basket and living through some of his freshmen mistakes without pulling him every time he makes a mistake will be a huge part of this success.
Any updates on official status of Nico? Is he 100% gone?

Great game yesterday, once Siena took the lead, it was never, really, in doubt.
There is a good reason why Siena has struggled in road games at Manhattan and St. Peters over the years. The Jaspers and Peacocks are alike in one way, they both play extremely physical defense. (Their playing styles are different but their focus on getting "into" the offensive player's space is similar)
The Saints did a much better job of dealing with the pressure yesterday than they did on Thursday. Certainly, having Wright helped but I thought all of the Saints, outside of JO and EF, were much more physical yesterday.

I'm glad you have come to your senses and can't throw in the towel after 20% of the conference schedule and 3 loses on the road all of which with a little luck could have been wins.

It wasn't the pizza (plain by the way), it was the Smithwicks I brought to go with it - "a little bit of pizza for the ride, a little bit of red on the side, a little bit of coach-he can't hide, a little bit of fan on the snide..." catchy when sung to Mambo #5
