They have just won 3 games in 5 days, this makes 4 games in a week, 4-0 or 3-1 is winning on short rest. They are underdogs and on the road without their high scorer if they lose will anyone be surprised or upset at the coach? I won't be. "will anyone be surprised or upset at the coach?" Yes I would not be surprised if there are some who will return to bashing should Siena lose at St. Peter's without their "starting" backcourt. I hope Siena gets the win so we will not have to find out.

Pretty sure we all know who is going to be upset with the coach should they lose tonight. The Frantastic Four will be full of, "See, I told you so's" if we lose at St Peters for the 8th straight year. And to Scott, the 4 loss streak is in the rearview mirror. The 4 game win streak is NOW. Big difference.

Three is about what I expect. Two or less and we continue on the downward spiral and are unlikely to ever come out of it until Jimmy is gone. So I was optimistic enough at that point to expect 3 wins over the next 5 games. Right now they are 3-0. If they win one of the next two I will be very happy but lose them both and the 4 game win streak becomes a distant memory. I just think winning tonight would be a huge statement game that the team has turned over a new leaf and the flopping on the road on short rest problem is a thing of the past.

I think anytime you break a 7 year losing streak, it's a statement game. Especially against a hot team, and without your best player.

No doubt a win tonight would be huge both as a confidence boost and to continue our climb up the MAAC ladder. Every win from here on out is big. Only 12 games left and the margin for error grows smaller with every loss.

We have a movement started.
Wasn't there a HS or small college Football or Basketball team, last year, that finally one a game after losing the previous 80 or so games? Those fans were dedicated.

Siena goes the Yanitelli Center to play the St. Peter's Peacocks to try and extend the current winning streak to 5. St. Peter's is trying to extend their streak to 4. Their last loss was to Siena on January 7th and that was the same game that started Siena's winning streak. This is the only MAAC game of the night. St. Peter's can tie Monmouth for the conference lead and Siena can get within a half-game with a win. St. Peter's is the league's best defensive team and beat Monmouth in this building back on January 2nd. I am expecting another grinding low-scoring tilt that only St. Peter's can provide.
Without Quis in the lineup, it will take a good game plan and solid execution to get this win. Practice was closed this week which I think was a good idea given all the run the Rider game got on national TV. Someone needs to step up and get the points Quis won't be providing as well as run the offense. I think it will take two players to fill Quis' shoes in this game. First, Kahlil Richard needs to take care of the ball and limit his turnovers. He has shown some signs of being able to put the ball in the basket earlier this year (10pts @ Kansas and 16pts @ UNC-Asheville). Second, there needs to be a return to "Lavon Time". There were games in his freshman year that he just took over and went off. It was fun to watch as was his 29 point performance against Rider. Lastly, Ogunyemi needs to have a solid game. He has 11 points and 6 rebounds in the last game against St. Peter's and needs to have a similar game this time around. He stayed out of foul trouble and played well defensively.
The Yanitelli Center has sucked the life out of the Saints for years now... summary of the torture: 12/6/15 - lost 72-68 2/9/15 - lost 65-57 2/7/14 - lost 66-53 2/10/13 - lost 72-62 12/1/11 - lost 51-44 1/21/11 - lost 77-69
The last win in this building was January 28, 2010 (66-58, RyRo scored 21). I don't have a lot of confidence that Siena can win this game. They have been playing well on defense, but this is their 4th game in 8 days and it's on the road. The Peacocks come home after two good road wins (@rider, @fairfield) and will be playing their 3rd game in 5 days. The last several years they have played well at home coming off multiple road games. Monmouth was a victim of that this year for what it's worth. I think Siena comes up short in this one... losing 66-63. Keeping Trevis Wyche under 10 points will be hard, but necessary. He's been bottled up in their last few losses and can put them over the top in this low scoring affair. Siena has a chance to keep St. Peter's in the 50's and I think they need to keep Wyche contained to win.
Now - for fun, who would like to see this lineup at some point tonight? 1 - Lavon Long 2 - Evan Fisher 3 - Willem Brandwijk 4 - Brett Bisping 5 - Javion Ogunyemi
Winning the next two games gets Siena serious contender status for the one or two seed in the tournament. The one seed hangs out there since they have not played Monmouth or Iona yet.

Even if we had Quis, we would be underdog in this game. Need a huge game out of Khalil tonight - tall task against best defense in MAAC..if we lose --well it's a game this coach usually loses, if we win huge statement win

Richard is clearly the next best scorer outside top 5. He is capable of putting up 20. He put up 16 in 25 mins vs UNC Asheville. For the life of me, I can't figure out why we haven't used him more. I would roll with him a lot tonight and also try to utilize his shooting ability off the bench a bit more going forward. Oh, and I'd go a lot of zone tonight....and the rest of the year for that matter. It's not really a coincidence why the D was so much better in the 2nd half vs. Rider.

St. Peters only has a 40% FG% overall and shoots just 43.5% from 2pt land.
You DO NOT let them get easy 2's and you do not want to put them on the line. If they beat you, they beat you from three. Put the pressure on their jump shooters to beat you and utilize the size advantage.
Zone, zone, zone. With less depth..can't afford fouls or to waste energy in man to man. The zone accentuates Siena's advantages over SPU and helps minimize the weakness.
If SPU beats us, let it be from three point land.

This is a game where ball control is especially important. St Peters struggles to score in the half court, need to stay away from turnovers and poor shot selection that turns into transition opportunities. If Siena could also create some easy offense via turnovers, that would be kind cool too.

I've always liked this Siena team in the 2-3 zone. So much of the MAAC is willing to shoot themselves out of games from three and this team has never been good in man with the front line of Long, Bisping, and JO.
It was one thing to experiment early in the season with more guard speed but it shouldn't have taken Siena this long to fall back to the zone.
Nothing has changed for this team since the CBI year. They are a zone team.
And on offense you run it through Bisping with screens at the top of the key. It ain't rocket science.
It's been the same for 4 years. Zone and Bisping in the high post. That's when they get their mojo.
