amid all the issues, and ZERO road wins............Siena is only 1 game out of first place with 14 league games to play............of course, how this season ends up is yet to be determined but everything is still right in front of them!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the league is whacky (more than it usually is). I expect Monmouth to eventually rise to the top and win it but they've had some head scratching losses.
Rider wins at Monmouth but loses at Manhattan. There doesn't appear to be any horrible teams or really outstanding teams. Who knows maybe 13-7 wins in with a bunch of teams at the top. Still not a believer in Canisius yet.
Imagine if we didn't blow the Rider/Niagara games we'd be 5-1...ughhh
I'd sign for the top 5 and take my chances if March. We have experience - four 1,000 point seniors so you never know.
But it is time to win the road you can't finish in the top 5 without a few road wins.

whacky is being kind to the league this year. Love to see this team to play up to the expectations of the preseason. IMO while there are more than the following I believe that JP has to take the reins off, and let the kids play, run. JP should just sit on the bench. Also be nice if Nico came around, if JP let the kids work it out he just may. Sounds ridiculous letting the kids play but JP hasn't done anything to turn the program around.

Color me stupid if you want but in my opinion, down the road, EF will be a bigger key to the elusive lock than most think... let's just watch. (no I have never even said hello to him). JP is not as incompetent as you think .

Beginning to think hockeyguy is 1 either related to EF 2 has taken 1 too many pucks to the old noggin JP can't coach can't recruit and can't keep 50% (depending who/how you count he's lost over 50% of players on the roster at one time or another) of the players he recruited. Other than that he's swell. EF is D2 period. OK I'll bite give me some detail about Evan and JP. Why is Evan the "bigger key & elusive lock" and why is JP not incompetent? Detail not rhetoric.

I've never blamed Fisher in fact I've always said the kid gives it his best effort. I only blame Patsos for putting the kid who appears more suited for D2 in the position he does. Hockeyguy appears to be a big proponent of both, so I'm asking for an explanation. It's a legit question.

Not to put a damper on things but we are actually 1.5 games out to two teams.this game is a must if the team wants to seriously contend for the maac ref season title. And for one last cliche, this is the type of game that can turn a whole season around. Who is still on the floor with less than four fouls in the final 8 minutes? That will tell the story for me.

Officially 1 game out of 1st (three way tie for first) in sole possession of 4th place. Beat Rider & St Peter's and move up to at least 3rd.
Things are looking up for the Saints.
Edited: tied for 4th. I didn't realize the MAAC standings already included St Peters win over Rider (because I gave an additional win to SPU and an additional loss to Rider. Also only a two way tie for 1st with SPU 1/2 game back in 3rd..

This MAAC is all over the place this season with just about everyone capable of getting beat and no decisive front runner. We need to keep improving and take one game at a time.

Always there fro them but realistic.

Monmouth should pull away from everyone else, but one game in March can spoil that for them. There is not a clear #2... I don't know if there is even a favorite at this point. Who would guys say is the likely #2 right now?
St. Peter's - defense! They can grind out wins. It may be enough in this year's MAAC.
Canisius - Trying to employ the Iona method - score a lot and hope the other team scores less. Not as talented as Iona, not a buyer on the Canisius stock quite yet. I want to see them play St. Peter's to see how they handle them. They lost to Iona once already (road game) and Monmouth twice. Nothing about their wins/losses screams terrible or great.
Rider - Solid senior led team. Like Siena, they don't have that knock out punch on offense.
Siena - Senior led, under-performing based on preseason expecations. I don't think they rise to preseason expectation level, but can be a tough out while playing to their strengths.
Quinnipiac - Ok, they beat Iona... They lost to Drexel by 17 and lost to both Brown and Columbia. The other MAAC wins are Manhattan, Marist, and Niagara. It seems like they can beat the "weaker" teams in the MAAC, Iona just didn't show up. There is no way they beat them again - Iona isn't that great, but they are better than Quinnipiac.
Fairfield - I like this team, they can score, but as Siena has shown, beatable with a good defense. They don't have enough on either side of the ball to be scared of them, they are a solid team. They need a hot shooting hand to separate from their opponent. They have enough talent to complete the sweep of Iona, but have been swept by Siena and I don't know how well they match-up with Canisius - seems like a coin flip. They lost to them at home already and close out the season on the Buffalo trip.
Iona - They have chemistry issues. Expected when you go JUCO/Transfer. You buy into a player's current abilities and assets and put player development aside. They have some good talent, but playing together seems to be hard for them sometimes. Scoring 58 at home against Niagara is the low-light of their season and they look like a bad road team (lost to Quinnipiac and Delaware). They are 2-6 on the road beating St. Peter's and Fairleigh Dickinson. They have a lot going for them, but they got to get it together. Good offense, serviceable defense, good at the free-throw line and from beyond the arc. 3-4 at this point is a mystery.
Marist - nothing to see here. Haven't seen anything that would be consideration of top 5 let alone #2. As enigmatic as the MAAC is this year, there is nothing about Marist that stands out as being very good which is very bad.
Manhattan - I thought they'd be better than they are right now. They beat Hofstra and gave Canisius a run for their money. They are just not very good this year.
Niagara - Winning that game at Iona was an aberration. They beat a disheveled Siena team and lost to a bunch of bad teams (Hartford, Kent State, North Texas). They can shoot the three and can rebound decently.
Gazing into the crystal ball... I won't speculate on final conference records although in another post I did put Siena at 9-11 which seems low with the way they are playing and the lack of a strong #2 team in the MAAC.
1. Monmouth (13 seed if they win the tournament... MAAC is not getting an at large) 2. Iona (14 seed if they rip though everyone but Monmouth and win the tournament) 3. St. Peter's 4. Siena 5. Fairfield 6. Rider 7. Canisius 8. Quinnipiac 9. Manhattan 10. Niagara 11. Marist
