The coach chooses the players,no? I don't get why some of you continually put down 18-22 year old kids on here, it is not a good look for the program. Facts are facts, if the players shoot 5% from three they have to take at least some of the responsibility. Given that Marquis was at the point most of the time I have to believe most were taken in the flow of the offense/game plan. Given that you have to hit more than 5%, (even less than 25% would be a bad night.) This game would have been a W if they hit a reasonable, even reasonably low percentage of shots. Don't make it more complicated than it has to be. Sometimes, most times the answer is the obvious option. Are there other complicating factors, absolutely, but make a couple more shots and you win.

I agree ultimately Jimmy gets the blame as the head coach but you know what these aren't 13 year old kids. If you're a senior leader you've got to go make some big free throws. You can't shoot 5 for 22 if you want to be considered an elite MAAC player. It's a team game. Guys have to step up. The core of this team are seniors not freshmen. I don't think we had a good game plan but there is no reason that an experienced team should not be able to step up. No clutchness so far on this team.

Players need to take ownership of their play. Take as much pride in good free throw shooting as in a long three or a spectacular dunk. This board in large part is putting it all on the Coach. What is also offensive to me is the suggestion that taking players on a road trip to historical or cultural sites is a waste of time that could be spent on practice. Basketball is not all that these kids are in college for. If that's what you want go follow Louisville or Kentucky etc.
The players play the game - no one on this board disagrees with that....they have responsibilities - stay eligible (go to class), stay healthy, work hard during conditioning sessions/drills, come to practice on time and ready, practice hard, practice on their own, be a teammate, do what is asked of you by the coaches
I firmly believe that each player wants to make every shot and win every game
The players do not scout their opponents The players do not set the lineups or make substitutions The players do not put together a game plan
The players must be in sync with the game plan and execute plays as designed The players must adopt a team attitude - there is no I in team
The coaches scout The head coach reviews the game plan suggested by the scouting assistant and either accepts as is or modifies it The head coach sets the lineup and makes substitutions, etc. The head coach must recognize deviations from the scout during actual play The head coach must make changes to the running game plan if its not working
The head coach is the absolute leader and must create/foster an atmosphere that he is in sole charge of all things, especially during games
I leave it to the reader to determine who is or isn't doing their job

Its up to head coach to put his "kids" in a position to be successful. The head coach is suppose to instill confidence. If the kids are not successful, it's a bad reflection on head coach.

One thing the coach doesn't do is put the ball in the basket.

One thing the coach doesn't do is put the ball in the basket. Unfortunately that's an oversimplification of the problem which appears to have many underlying issues. So yes on rudimentary level they failed to score, but the issues with this team are far more complex than failing to put the ball in the hoop. See MPs post above for starters.....

Actually it isn't overly complicated, it's an outline of preparation for a game. I hope it's not overly complicated for the staff.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blind to the fact that something is off. As a fan I want the lemonade from the lemons. But what does beating the same dead horse do?
How many years are left on his buyout? I really dont know, maybe 2. Unless things get crazy bad I'll continue to make the lemonade.

MP's points no doubt have validity, but I would say that even the best coaching staff and the best game plan will not win games in which the players shoot 5% from three.

LEMONADE IS JUST ADDING TO THE MISERY FOR MORE YEARS. IT'S TIME TO STOP EXTENEDING SO-SO'S CONTRACT, AND PREPARE TO PUT IN PLACE A REAL MEN'S BASKETBALL HIRING SEARCH COMMITTE, DEVOID OF A'ARG AND ANY PRIESTS. THE BOARD NEEDS TO APPROVE TO PAY FOR THE HIRE OF A REAL UP AND COMER WHO CAN RECRUIT TEH ny-nj-pa AREA. LEMONADE IS FOR LOSERS!

Yup, I would agree with that, my concern is that we have a team with arguably the best starting 5 in the MAAC and we're well under 500. Sure the bench is suspect but I think Richard and at least one other player could be serviceable. If this team doesn't win 20 regular season games (given that the MAAC is really mediocre) there's something very wrong.
