What went wrong with this season thus far? How did Siena get to be 3-6 and winless (as in 0 and 6) on the road? We all had dreams of competing for a MAAC championship this year. Someone else mentioned that the kids in the interviews don't have enthusiasm (except Nico), something is really bothering the chemistry on this team. They are still talented individual players, but not a team. Why not? Winning takes care of a lot of things, but there hasn't been much of that, and Friday does not seem like an easy contest to build upon. Florida Gulf Coast is 4-0 at home. On the other hand, IF they pull together and accomplish the difficult task of winning Friday down south, maybe it is just the kick start that everyone is looking for. Hope they can get things turned around - and fast! Play unselfishly, Siena, and hang in there Saints fans!

That’s a really good question- not sure really, looks to be combination of a lot of things. Chemistry seems to be “off”, not rebounding as well. Defense has been swiss cheese at times. Suspensions to Long and Nico. Bench has been bad to inconsistent. A few games coaching staff had terrible game plans. To have a senior dominated team 0-6 on the road—something is wrong big time. Almost 1/3 of season gone, getting increasingly difficult for this team to turn it around.
As you mention it doesn’t get any easier Friday- not only is FGCU 4-0 at home, you have the old gamblers adage- mid majors don’t travel well. It will probably take best effort of season to win, not sure team has it in them to do that. But hey who knows that’s why you play the games

The 0-6 road record is, IMHO, a very, very strong indicator of underlying chemistry issues on this "team" - while on the road, the players have only themselves and staff to hang with - players being late for a bus (and 7 minutes is an eternity when 90% of the group is sitting and stewing while waiting for an ADD outburst from SoSo) may indicate players that don't respect or protect some of their teammates, teammates who don't recognize and anticipate bad habits in other players, assistant coaches that don't give some players a little extra kick in the ass before hand. One can only imagine the vitriol that SoSo would be hurling during the bus ride to the shoot around - not exactly the setting for a positive preparation session. I know these kids are young adults and should be held responsible for their actions - clearly some aren't yet in that level of maturity. Yet another disciplinary action for a key senior player after having gone through a three game suspension is beyond belief - not the kind of teammate one would want. If I were the head coach the two late arrivers would still be at the hotel.... on second thought, that wouldn't work - they'd have missed the tour of the facility mods at Rider that impressed SoSo so much he mentioned them on the pregame show and appeared to conclude that because of them Rider would be a tough out - he was right...

Perhaps both MW and Nico are pushing to hard due to the pressure of the present team situation. I'd like to see TH and Merrill given chances, the current big subs just aren't getting it done, they can't really hurt us, and perhaps they will show JP they can contribute. From what the various contributors have posted here and little I have seen of TH he has a BB mindset, exactly what is needed. As for the Rider game, seems we were constantly getting Off rebounds , TRYING to put them in, JO a beast and BB are not going to miss that many give ME's without being fouled it seems. Just an observation from listening perhaps someone who saw the game can enlighten us.

The lug nuts on the bus wheels are dangerously loose. The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round, all through the town The coach on the bus goes blah-blah-blah, blah-blah-blah, blah-blah-blah, touring the town The players on the bus go yawn-yawn-yawn, yawn-yawn-yawn, yawn-yawn-yawn listening to the clown The staff on the bus goes frown-frown-frown, frown-frown, frown, frown-frown-frown, wanting to tone him down ......... The players in the gym go in and out, in and out, in and out, all through the game The lead in the game goes up and down, up and down, up and down, all on its own ....... The coach on the bus goes spin-spin-spin, spin-spin-spin, spin-spin-spin, leaving the town The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round, all through the town

If Kevin Huerter can score 7 ppg , 6 rebounds and 1 assist per game (and one massive block) for 8-1 Maryland, than surely Thomas huerter can get in the game for 280th ranked 3-6 Siena.

Clearly Wright and Clareth should sit and a couple of managers should get their minutes. SMH at some (not all) of the "ideas" here.

That might have worked.....instead our SoSo head coach told Quis, for the last possession, to go out and look for something...seems like the financial woes at Siena are worse than portrayed if he was holding off using the marker to actually design a play that might have ended regulation in a tie - I guess the pathetic shooting stats for Quis and Nico at that point gave some encouragement that a final shot had to go down.....

Our lack of depth is astounding. The fact that a walk on being given real minutes speaks to that. That falls directly on the coaching staff for their inability to identify and close on talent (like Anthony Lamb). The MAAC tournament is a grind and only having six or seven guys who can give us good minutes does not bode well.

No big guys that can give us effective minutes and freshmen playing like freshmen; Brett not the Brett we expected or absolutely need to be successful(I will attribute this to his health because he always leaves it on the court); Lavon doing the same stuff off the court this year as his last three years and hurting the team; Nico and Quis believing they both need to carry the team this year yet trying to do it independent of each other and thus creating a chemistry issue; JO not taking ownership of the paint; Coaches not able to game plan more effectively(UA game) to put us in a position to win. The talent is there. I believe in all 5 of these guys. I know the frustration reflected on this board is because we all are passionate about the program and know that we have the talent to be better than we've been. I'm sure the players and coaches are all frustrated with the results thus far as well. I hope they can right this ship soon- I was so looking forward to this season. I will continue to support them through thick and thin and remain hopeful that their best basketball has yet to be played.

On a shooting night like last night, we ain't beating Skidmore in a 40 minute basketball game. Remarkably, we still had a chance to win on the last possession.
To me, it's crunch time woes. In the last 5 minutes of the game, you have to nut up or shut up, and sadly they've been doing the latter. We've been in literally every game this season. That's not a position terrible teams put themselves in, but it is a position good teams can leverage into wins.
GW - down 1 with 2 1/2 to go - FT's to tie, take lead with 90 seconds to go Kansas - down 5 with 7 1/2 to go - obviously pulling this one out is a pipe dream, but they battled 'til the final 7. UNCA - down 6 with 5 1/2 to go - no threat down the stretch. (or most of the game in this instance, quite frankly) UA - down 4 with 1 1/2 to go (this was one instance where the late stretch didn't kill them, so much as the 1st half did) St. Bona - down 3 with 3 1/2 to go - within 1 late Rider - up 7 under 6 - multiple, and I mean multiple, chances to tie, take lead after choking it up late.
Right now, we're neither good nor terrible - we're just there.

I wonder if the team and coach can handle the high expectations. Look at two years ago today off the CBI title (of course we had a lot of injuries) we were picked 2nd and had a terrible year. Last year not huge expectations at least outside the program and they put together a good year. Here we are again with high expectations and an underachieving team.
It's almost like we just expected to be good and showed up without the preparation. It all starts with the HC who is not known for his work ethic.
If Jimmy can't have a big season with four talented seniors he's clearly not the coach for Siena.
Back to OOC play: Florida Gulf Coast, Bucknell, Hofstra and Vermont - all quality teams with two on the road and only one in the TUC.
Still time but like Yogi said it's getting late early.
