was the recruit a target for 16, 17 or 18? Tell him Jimmy has at least two more years and if he comes and plays well, he can help him stay until retirement The player I am speaking of was a 17 target. I also know an 18 target who would be at my school, but plays in the City Catholic league, that is starting to get sniffs from the MAAC. Already has an offer from VCU, but wants to be closer to home then that. Kid would be great in the MAAC. Kids name is Tyrese Williams from Cardinal Hayes. Hoping Siena jumps aboard soon, kid is a 6'5 kid with skills to play the 1,2,3, is a great student from a good family

Maybe one kid a year we have interest in. I know we offered the big kid from Iona Prep

Like they always say, winning cures all ills. Still a few "true haters" will not be satisfied until JP is gone, win or lose. Luckily the number is limited, because, barring disaster, JP isn't likely to be going anywhere in the short term. On the plus side the team won last night, played up tempo, put up a lot of points, was entertaining to watch. We have seen worse days. ;-) Just an observation. That gate swings both ways, no doubt haters use losses to prove their point that the coach is inept just as Jimmy apologist come out after wins to prove that he's the right guy for the job. Funny thing both are right about 50% of the time and if the coach holds true to present form then I guess we'll be mired right in the middle of this conflict until something forces a change. I guess the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Welcome to the dilemma of the 500 coach! This was my issue with the hire in the first place. I'm hoping that that the "haters" are only right 33% of the time this year. Still hoping for 20 Ws this regular season. ;-) I want the program to succeed. Who the coach is doesn't matter to me if the program succeeds.

Welcome to the dilemma of the 500 coach! With all due respect, the content of your post is where I have an issue with many JP 'haters' (sorry for using that word, but it's easier to say than 'those who do not approve of (or like) Jimmy, for whatever reason'). I don't know as if anybody (certainly not me) is saying that he is the beat or even 'right guy for the job'. But he is the guy with the job right now and probably will be for at least a couple of years. He also sees the players more than me/us and knows the game better than me/us. Is there somebody that might win more games with a style I might prefer? Sure, but there's also other guys who would not win as many or with a style I would totally disagree with. I can't foresee the future or influence it that much. But like everybody here, I will comment on what I think related to the players and coaching staff with as much respect as I can. (As we know and has been pointed out recently, recruits read this board.) All I can do is hope for the best and be the best fan I know how with my resources.

Not saying we cant beat Rider- but JP's record is 8-25 here at Siena with one day turn around That's odd, if you knew that stat would you have predicted 23-8? I went with your expert knowledge. 20-3 is still doable. Not much room for error though. Let me school you- doesnt mean they cant win, only that odds dont favor them. No wonder MTS killed you last year in your bet

If we had gotten on Hughes earlier we probably would have had him, he loved ECU but also loved the support the Albany area gave to Siena and the pro sports feel of the town. Also didn't hurt hearing me mention Siena every day I saw him. Another kid picking up steam who might get back to me next year is Xavier Mayo a 6'8 post player for 18 or 19 depending on if he remains at prep or returns to me. He is a city rock kid which might hurt.

All this hatful rhetoric does nothing for the program! It's all about ego! Yeah, leggo those egos. What's all this fuss I keep hearing about a hat full of rethoric?

I guess the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Welcome to the dilemma of the 500 coach! This was my issue with the hire in the first place. I really don't think the main argument on this site has to do with hating or apologizing for JP. It's about individuals arguing their points pro or con but keeping it at a civil level where it doesn't reflect poorly on our team or program. I think for the most part our "haters" have recently been respectful of the program and to this site. Someone going on a tirade making venomous remarks about the people running the basketball program serves no purpose and makes us all look bad. Several comments on this post have criticized specific things from last night's game. They were on point with strong observations and insightful criticism that's constructive not destructive. I think we all welcome that! That's why we're on here, to get our Siena basketball fix. I don't consider myself an apologist just because I try to support the entire program during the tough times. Criticism is welcome from all members. Just do it in a way that doesn't make us feel embarrassed to say we're Siena fans.

I felt like we had to beat FF three times to get the final W. It was very clear to me the talent differential and FF in pre-season was predicted to be 4th. Outside of Nelson, who was outstanding, there was no other FF player that I thought would/could hurt us. Never felt we would lose the game, even when they tied it up. Great game by Nico- I would still like him to take someone off the dribble and finish at the rim more, but he really carried us last night. JO is a puzzle to me- it's almost like he's too nice a kid, even on the court. He seemed to lack some confidence early last night but finished on an up note. We will definitely need him to get where we want to go and I hope he can get more physical in the paint and finish stronger. Good job by players and coaches- they all looked prepared and ready to play.

Because believe me when I tell you that the insults fly from the other side too, even if the posts that point out program flaws are as respectful as possible.

Just seems like we haven't seen the "real" Nico yet, coming off the surgery (and maybe not even last year, with the knees being a problem then, too). Same point with respect to a previous poster who said we were looking for more from Kadeem as an A-10 transfer. He may still be working his way back from his surgery. Being able to play is one thing. Playing at 100% or close to it is something else entirely. The schedule is pretty light the next couple of weeks, so maybe as we get later in the month, and with classes/exams behind them, the whole team, and these two guys in particular, will be feeling a whole lot better physically and mentally.

Kadeem is limited. Nice defender, and really has a nose for loose balls. Not a true playmaker (It's be my FIRST job recruiting right now. Don't think the id from Minnesota is one either), but wont ever be a scorer for us. Which is okay if you're a great defender/playmaker, but.....
Best thing I saw on the floor was Nico actually passing the ball to Brett. I haven't see that enough this year. Saw it a lot last night. Nico's run last year, with the road Iona win sticking out, was fin to watch. He was an All-MAAC kid for that one month period. Dominating the game in all phases. IF he gets 100% healthy, the MAAC is in trouble.
