I've been calling for the major players to shoot 2-3 foul shots before each half and can the dunking and 3 point practicing. Tonight prime example. They miss 14 of 32(56%) and lose by 7. Make 8 of those 14 and you have a win. Bonnies make 23 of 27(84%). I rest my case.

Maybe that is all it will take, but Personally I think they need to do much more than that, but not before the game. It's a repetitive shot, to get better requires hundreds of shots. Anyone, even non athletes, can make these with enough practice. These repetitions. can be done outside of normal practice (you know, instead of dunk practice). Of course, this is an issue shared by most collegiate athletes, not just the ones at Siena. It's either that, or a cardio issue which would require a running regimin. The third cause would be psychological, and let's just say I'll leave my feelings on that one to myself.
There, I have now shifted the vitriol headed your way to me, but don't worry, I have headphones and a helmet (no blindfold though, unfortunately).

Coach says teams practices free throws= problem we have is Javion isnt good free throw shooter, and for all the good things Quis does, he has never been a good foul shooter- and those two go to line the most

Agree it comes from hours in the gym but turning in that muscle memory in warm ups is also a good idea IMO. These are D 1 scholarship players getting 50K education per year to play basketball. If we achieved less than 80% of our expected deliverables or metrics at our jobs for the most basic of tasks (sub in free throws) we would be minimally on a performance improvement plan.

So players should work harder, and not be lazy? I agree

Nice deflection after you were exposed for being an ass to Kinnon.

[quote author=" OneIndian" That's something you work on in the gym.[/quote] Well, apparently that isn't working either as their success rate is atrocious.

It's how you practice free throws. Shooting fresh doesn't simulate game situations. Kids need to practice when tired after doing sprints and after getting hit in practice -Quis often gets knocked down when fouled and bumped hard. Need to simulate that to a degree shooting free throws with tired legs and noise etc.t

It's how you practice free throws. Shooting fresh doesn't simulate game confusions. Kids need to practice when tired after doing sprints and afternoon hitting in practice -Quis often gets knocked down when fouled and bumped hard. Need to simultaneously that to a degree shooting free throws with tired legs and noise etc.t To be honest, I'm usually just so happy that he's getting back up that I don't worry whether he makes them. Part of me dies inside every time he hits the floor.

For the year, as a team, Siena is shooting just under 69% (68.7) not great but not horrible. Just seems like we are feast or famine at the line.
Wright 64% - Major issue for a PG to shoot that percentage.
Ogunyemi 55.6% - Disappointing after nearly 70% last year.
Clareth 60% - But only 6/10
Everyone else is pretty good.

I think it's magnified because we just faced Cremo and Adams who are like Mr. Automatics. I used to pass around a $5.00 bill with some former players betting on whether or not OD would hit the rim on a FT......

And that makes me ask - Do you think his poor FT shooting was because he did not put the work/practice into it?
