Starting line-up in '17-'18 PG--Smithen (jr) 2G--Nico (jr) SF--Joseph (sr) PF--WB (jr) C--Big man transfer they're working on now (jr) With Wormley and Richard as the back-up guards, Kinnon and Huerter at SF, Fisher inside. The 4 scholarships we fill, as of now, would be Huerter, McLaren and guessing another 6'7" athletic insider, and probably best available wing. With Huerter and McLaren getting two of the 4, we can't miss on the other two. They need to be special kids. I don't expect much of a dropoff with that veteran starting line-up. Where is the scholarship for the transfer coming from? It's a secret

You don't expect that much of a dropoff? Before most of these guys are proven? Seriously? We're really going to be dependent on Smithen and Nico for our athletic guard play. And Smithen is unproven as of yet. Joseph isn't a shooter nor a sure handed ballhandler..so while he has the athleticism...will he have the ball skills to be an effective starter? We need wings who are like PGs not wings who are like PFs. Wormley defers and has an awkwardness about his game. WB is Wiggy both offensively and defensively... We need another post for sure because Fisher is soft. Kinnon could be good if he grinds on D. Heurter is a complete wait and see. We need another Nico type bad. And a good center. Not a wait and see center. I'd say get your big, get a skilled combo F like Kennedy Koehler if you must, and get your stud wing...a guy who does it all...or get 2 stud wings...wings with stud potential. You're right, every guy on the team that year stinks except Nico. Guess I'll change my opinion to "not much of a dropoff" (4th/5th) to "off the deep end" (10th/11th)

Other than Nico. No one is particularly proven....so for the sake of this conversation yes. Everyone else sucks. I'd rather throw numbers at the guard positions than at the big positions.

Not for nothing, how many teams that feature 4 players that will have started 100 or more times in their career have many "proven" players to project out 2 years? Having 1 stud to build around is a pretty good start plus they have a season to measure what is in place and what is needed. I truly don't think you can fully evaluate a recruit until they've been in the program for a couple of years. Some get it faster than others. Plus, few of us have seen Smithen yet but the coaching staff has. We don't know what kind of improvement WB made during his red shirt year but there is enough there to think he can be a good to very good stretch 4. I like what LaRose brings to the table and expect him to become a much more confident player as he catches up to the speed of the game. He has shown he can shoot, play defense and rebound in spurts. I've said it before and will say it again, I think Fisher brings more to the table than he is given credit for and expect him to develop this off season. You see 17-18 as a drop off year, I see it as a year of opportunity for all the guys relying on Wright, Bisping, JO and Long.

I like how old we are. It's not like we're throwing 3 freshman out there to count on. We'll have a very experienced group, and that's not including the 2 freshman we'll be bringing in to basically replace Bisping and Long. I'm counting on at least one of them to be an impact freshman.

How come every newer guy we have you label as "unproven," but every new guy Iona signs is a potential "All-MAAC" guy? The blade cuts both ways, but it seems like Cluess can do no wrong with his bandit/problem child recruiting in your mind.

If that's the roster and it doesn't change much im guessing we're 500 and that doesn't cut it, JP has 3 maybe 4 spots to fill with a bushel of playing time to offer. What has he done so far? Well to date our 17 "ships" are the big project from Troy and Huerter. Which are lackluster to say the least. Meanwhile Iona brings in Vann (kids a player) for a visit. JP has to step it up or he's well on his way to maintaining his 500 status. Let's see who else he brings in.....

Thomas H has won a NYS title and just played a year in the NE Prep league where he was awarded the coaches award for his team. I believe he has grown more too. So IMO he is a perfect fit for any MM plus if there was ever a family, a kid who bleeds Green and Gold its the Huerter's and Thomas.

Maybe Jimmy will have all Section 2 recruiting class for 2017. Who is the best wing and 2G out there?

But I wouldn't say those 2 facts constitute a D1 offer. He had very little to no D1 interest, that tells me something. He has good size and I'm sure has a good ball IQ but does he have the quicks. That's where LaRose is having his biggest problem. The game at this level is just too fast for him, that's why his playing time suffered as a frosh. Can he overcome it, maybe. I think Tommy may struggle with the same issue. At least he's 6 7. I hope it works out. Point is JP has quality minutes to offer I'd be looking for impact guys like Vann not works in progress.

He is an example of the profile I think we should pursue, as is Montague. Iona is winning over 20 games EVERY year. That should be enough motivation to try to raise our level. The fact that Iona is evil has nothing to do with it. The fact that they've won more games than us each of the last 6 years has everything to do with it.
