I've been preaching on this board and at the arena for the players that receive majority of playing time to take 2 or 3 practice free throws before each half. I'm aware they practice them in practice. Last night Morehead missed 3 of 24. Siena missed 7 of 20. If they missed only 3 they would have been in OT at worst. This wasn't the only game where they clanked up many attempts. All they want to do is dunk and throw up 3 pt. shots. Get back to the basics. And also they don't set solid picks for their distant shooters. They attempted to double team the Morehead players on their drives to the hoop and the players they left were getting put back baskets. Maybe, just maybe these deficiencies will be corrected next season.

Even after this game, Morehead is still shooting sub 70% from the line on the season. They were on fire. Siena is shooting 72.2%. Last 10 years, that would have put them between 1st and 3rd in the MAAC every year. This year, it put them at 6th. It's tough to hold Siena to such a standard when they aren't bad overall. Teams have bad games.

Teams have bad games. That's true but if you remove DeJuan Marrero who was their leader in free throw attempts on the season from the equation then Morehead shoots 73% from the line. He didn't take any of the free throws last night. So the guys that were shooting the free throws were pretty good free throw shooters. Meanwhile Siena's free throw woes were largely because they put Nico on the line 4 times and he made one of them. And he clearly needs to be shooting free throws like crazy this offseason.

Hopefully NICO makes the same progression with his game this summer as MW made with his shooting last. MW probably can't wait to rest and just practice again, kids a gamer.
