Well, we'll be more athletic. The D should be better. We really faded defensively down the stretch. We'll have to work on the turnovers. Perhaps the uptick in athleticism helps us be the aggressors and control the tempo better. Plus, of course, having Wright actually run the point again will help too. Get the turnovers down to 12 per game and Siena is almost immediately a championship caliber team. More athleticism has been the rallying cry for awhile. What exactly does more athleticism get us? It gets us from point A to point B faster...or in Patsos terms 'a grade of B to a grade of A.'

Someone, besides Nico, that can cover English/Williams and Seaborn/Hornbeck

But they will be freshmen class of a senior age, no? greenblood, why so down on the recruiting? While I am not a huge fan of recruiting juco's, I don't see much wrong with a one off. Same deal with transfers. As for freshman, I don't see any more risks being taken now then with the prior coaching regimes. Nor is there more transfer activity than we saw under Lanier, Fran or Mitch. Now, if Siena starts to rely heavily on JUCO's or transfers going forward, then I would fully agree with you concerns.

Just looking at Kenpom for the OVC. Niagara's ex-backup PG Tahj McCall is listed as one of the top 5 players in that conference.
Kind of funny.
Also, the OVC is 31 out of 32 as a conference in block % and 24th in tempo.
So they play against teams who typically aren't great at the rim yet they also play slow.
Morehead plays at the 313th ranked tempo yet they have 19th best steal rate.
This game is a weird matchup. It's like facing SPU, Manhattan and Canisius' defense all in one. SPU cause of tempo, Manhattan cause of steals and fouls, and Canisius cause they allow teams to shoot well.
Because they shoot the 2 often and not well (in a conference that doesn't block shots), Morehead relies on offensive boards to win games. Siena is 5th in offensive rebounding%...Morehead is 6th. So they do to their conference what we do to ours.
Siena needs to just out tough them and hope that the difference in FG% is enough to win...as per usual. These guys aren't used to facing a team with 2 bigs like Siena in their conference. We need to take advantage of that early and show them who owns the paint. If they can't depend on the paint, it could take them completely out of what they are used to doing offensively.
I think if Wright plays anything near like his real self we win because, on the boards, we do what Morehead does better than they do and vs. better competition than they have. Judging by their defensive numbers, I'm not sure they'll be able to contain Bisping and JO enough on offense and we defend the 2 pt FG well enough to slow what they do.

I was referring to Iona, Quinny and Monmouth. I agree with you not concerned yet, but I don't want to see a pattern of constant transfer in and out. That's not player or team development, just MHO.

Athleticism wise and probably competition wise...I think Monmouth, Iona, Manhattan next year. We should be preseason 1B.
