From the poll that was taken on this site and from many loyal Siena fan comments, I don't sense that enthusiasm is running high for the CBI this season. It was an exciting run back in 2014, the first post season the school had seen in a while and having the best of three final on campus pulled in a lot of student support and things worked out to be a great experience.
What are the risks of re-entering the CBI this year?
a) Anything short of another title run will be viewed as a failure, especially an early round exit. b) The fan base, and from today's T-U article, the team, seems to be so-so about this experience. c) If there is a Tuesday game, the short turnaround means it will not be an easy sell for the TUC. d) Several comments about meeting Albany in the finals means some have "assumed" Siena can make it that far before the field is even assembled, and that is far from a given. e) The CIT or the Vegas 16 were viewed as a new, more exciting, experience, and the CBI ho-hum.
Maybe all of this will change once the field is announced and the matchups realized. I hope so. As a season ticket holder, I really enjoyed every minute (well, almost every minute) of the past season, and I am already looking forward to 16-17 with anticipation aplenty. I just hope any post-season experience does not put a bad ending to 15-16.
So, what's to gain?
a) Additional exposure for the program b) More Siena basketball c) Playing experience out of conference against major conference schools- always exciting to see an ACC, Big Ten, or Big East school - always d) More Siena basketball e) The chance to compete for another day f) More Siena basketball g) A chance to see Nico's left handed dunk on a breakout again. h) More Siena basketball i) One last chance to root for our seniors j) A chance to see Siena's name in headlines again in March k) More Siena basketball
OK, I've convinced myself that a run in the CBI is worth it. How do you all feel??

Looking forward to it whether it's 1 game or five. No matter what happens it can't take away any of the accomplishments-- I think this can only be a well earned positive experience.

It's always good to keep on playing. I will say next year I want no part of anything but the NCAA/NIT. With four talented seniors if we don't win the regular season championship or conference tournament championship I will just want to get to the off-season.
The bottom line is we bring back everyone of significance and anytime you do that more games are good to get better.
Don't know who we're playing but about 10pm tonight I expect a home game against a mid-major and if we win a potential high-major (home or road?) in the CBI Quarterfinals.
Whatever happens won't damper my expectations for the 16-17 season, which will be VERY high. The odds are we won't win it again because a) it's hard - we were the only MAAC school to ever win a national postseason event and b) we're probably going to have to win multiple road games (probably at least one against a BCS team) this time.

My feeling with postseason going forward is the bigger boys from major conferences will head to the Vegas16 before CIT/CBI, so I doubt we'll see high majors in the CBI.
I'm excited, however.

Looking at it as a parting gift to senior players ... End of season was a let down - no MAAC Championship - no trip to the Big Dance ... No final four at the Garden ... Now it's OOC games for team to strut their stuff w potential to bring some hardware back to campus ... Siena probably thinks they can break close to even on the financials

Which is why I liked the idea of going. It's only four days and you potentially get four games for the price of one. But home game even better.

If I'm a player or coach I'm picking Vegas for four days otherwise no thanks. fyi, Vegas16 is a single elimination event, not a 4 game guarantee...........if you lose early, no way the team stays the 4 days, not that kind of field trip that Darg will sign off on..................the CIT is what it is, mid-major city, and that would be fine, however all the best middies (if not in the big dance) will be in the NIT, so what you have left is really a mish-mash of mediocre teams, no thank you to that.......................this is why the CBI would make the most sense since more power type schools could possibly be available that Siena could not normally schedule, but then again the glitz/glam of Vegas could attract those teams instead..........almost have to wonder if they can actually fill the field out....................I would rather ALL these secondary tournaments go away, and just go to a 96 team NCAA event, ..................one extra weekend is all it would take, and it would once and for alleviate all the discussions/anxiety of bubble teams (in other words, just engulf the NIT teams)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No kidding, its a real tournament at a neutral site, lose and go home, win and advance. It's a chance to be in Vegas four days if they win. Obliviously they would return when they lose.
It's the best option at preparing for next season and winning the maac tournament.

I like any of the post season (as runner ups for not making the NCAAs or NIT).
The CIT is for all MMs at least the CBI does have some BCS schools in it.
The CBI and CIT is Siena's best chance to make money (hosting games). The main drawback is lack of fan support/enthusiasm which could ultimately hurt the potential money making part.
I'm with Gorvy, Siena earned post season play this year and the team deserves to continue playing. It'll give the Fr-Jrs extra games to get better and extra games for the Srs before they graduate.
Do I expect Siena will win it, I don't know, but I'll say we'll be in the finals because it's what I do (hype up every game, season, tourney, etc.).
