There is no way with his ability to protect the paint that he should be rotting on the bench. Who knows if he alters a few shots gets a couple blocks vs Monmouth we might have had a different outcome. He actually did get a couple minutes vs. Monmouth and had 2 blocks. 2 blocks in 2 mins. Yup well aware I was there and had mentioned it earlier in this thread. He also altered a shot or two without blocking He needs to be in the floor. He should have logged 10-12 min easy. He should get everyone one of Fisher's minutes from here on out. Whatever the issue is I hope he and JP work it out. His presence in the paint can only help. Imoh if you read this board, time to step up ... We need ya' brother!

But Jimmy is clearly preferring the offense and less turnover prone Fisher who he wants to develop for the future over the turnover prone and soon to be graduating Silas who may defend the paint way better. Silas has 12 turnovers in just 82 minutes. Fisher has just 4 in 192. On an already turnover prone team...he's probably making a choice of one evil over another. And, I don't blame him for that one bit. LaRose vs. Gottfried however, should be a no brainer in my opinion. The kid just mostly does good and has a much higher upside. LaRose is a legit rotation player. Gottfried isn't really on his level. Gottfried is smart and can shoot and make good decisions but so can LaRose.

Cant turn it over if you don't have it and he doesn't rebound either and not to mention the points he gives up on D ..... Give me Silas all day!

True, but Silas doesn't even need to touch the ball to turn it over. Again, it's clearly a tradeoff I think. And I'm not going to hold that one against Jimmy right now. Recruiting, red shirting, and other roster related decisions are free game though.

I don't necessarily want Silas to take fishers minutes but I do want him in in the first half instead of the second half before bigs get third fouls. This to me is the no brainer concept especially with wb unavailable due to the ill-advised redshirt.

Well I guess if we are discussing only two or three minutes of the coach's decision making we have made significant progress as a team and a board. As has been said often, winning solves a lot of issues, that and recruiting, recruiting and recruiting. I like the trajectory of the program. ;-)

So on a related topic, I sit just to the left of the visitors bench in section 104. I never looked at the MU bench during the game. I only concentrate on the play on the court. Did they do anything at all during the game. No one has mentioned anything.

They had a few stand up antics, mostly individual dabs. I felt that someone has toned them down. As the top team in the league they already are a target and don't need to give others more motivation.

Just looking at the 2 box scores and summarizing and comparing the stats of both games vs. Monmouth. I'm trying to see if they could be beaten on a potential Monday night match up at the TUC.
All things considered they've played equal in a lot of ways..
The main issue is Siena has turned the ball over 23 more times than Monmouth...and that's led to 33 more points than we've gotten off of their turnovers.
Siena beats them on rebounding (by 19) and in the paint and they're relatively equal everywhere else....it's just those turnovers..ugh.
If Siena is to beat them we have to close that gap. They're getting 28.1% of their points off of our turnovers....that's 50 points in 2 games.
One potential saving grace is that they've shot 42.9% from three against us ...making 21 threes in 2 games. Maybe on a 3rd game they'd have an off night and help us close the gap.

The main issue as I see it (eyetest) is they are faster, deeper, more athletic and well ... better. We dont match up well in the backcourt. A healthy Wright helps close that gap. JO was tough in the paint last game and kept it close. When Fisher plays it's a huge issue, Monmouth is way too quick for him. Wormleys game suffered because of the defensive assignment on Robinson. Tall order for anyone let alone a freshman. Long needs to step it up. We will need to play flawless ball against them and contain Robinson. JP needs to keep recruiting better talent. We need a wing who can score and an athletic big with some quickness and agility.
