Yes they do. Seems like all the major sports, schools contending for titles are coming from the southern part of the country with few exceptions. Can't blame the kids warm weather.

They play some pretty good basketball in Texas (Baylor and Texas A&M) looking strong this year If you have any pull with either program you should get them to play Siena in a home & home series. That way you'll get to see your Saints twice in TX. Then we'd get to see Baylor & Texas A&M here . It's a win-win from a fans' perspective.

Saints came down to College Station during Coach Dean era and played a great game (was in attendance) and beat the Aggies. They owe Siena a game, in Albany! This year Aggies played Texas A&M Corpus who had a kid who played at Albany Academy. Aggies travel well and I know they have a sizeable former student chapter in NYC.

Born and raised in the CD, Siena grad and basketball nut, I have no problem pulling for UA when not playing Siena. I even attend a few games over the course of season. I dont get the big deal pulling for another local team come tourney time. And Ive been a Siena season ticket holder for years. Have you ever heard of a UNC fan pulling for Duke or a Red Sox fan rooting for the Yankees? Me neither. Are the Red Sox located in NYC? is Duke in Chapel Hill? Not the same. Sorry but I know plenty of folks who follow both programs. Many are Siena tix holders, they just like basketball. Two decent teams from a smaller non-pro area like Albany is a good thing. This isn't the MLB or the NFL or Duke. Both local programs need to be supported. It's good for the area and good for basketball.

That said, I don't have an issue with anyone rooting for both teams ... I just stated that I can't (or at least don't want to)

They play some pretty good basketball in Texas (Baylor and Texas A&M) looking strong this year I don't doubt that but I am more of a Big 10 fan (plus Siena, ND and Butler). I just can't stand hearing about the Cowboys, Mavs, Rangers and UT. For what it's worth, when I lived in New Orleans, I grew to hate the Saints and LSU as well. Just back from my first Texas High School football game. The school my kids feed into won in triple overtime after blowing a 28 point lead. Might be the best game I've ever seen, certainly the best football game I've ever seen in person. I have to say, they really do football right here. over 10k in attendance, huge bands, about 35 cheerleaders each and some unbelievable football action.

Yea, state championships next week in Houston, will most likely drawn close to 35k each three day session. Kids start early playing college rules, everything is run first class from concession stands to letting seniors (over 60) in most towns getting into games for free. Lots of school districts (250 boys or more) have indoor practice facilities. Basketball, both girls and boys, is strong, with baseball right behind football in popularity.
Would like to see the Saints make a southern swing this way, saw Iona played Memphis this past week. Good luck tonight Siena. Should be a something else for fan atmosphere at the TUC.

I was really impressed with competition, facilities and spectacle of it all last night. They played on Allen Eagle Stadium. The one that cost like $60m but then had foundation issues. Place is awesome. (for those that aren't aware, Allen Eagle Stadium is a High School stadium located on the Allen High School campus. Everything is bigger in texas, including the school budgets. I live in Frisco, soon to be home of the Dallas training facility. As I understand it, the cowboys indoor facility will be used for home games featuring the Frisco ISD school. The place is going to be amazing. I saw Iona play UNT last year. Agreed, would love to see the Saints make a trip down here, I haven't see them live in 4 years.

Might as well get it started. Danes come into the game 7-3 winners of 7 of 8 after starting the season 0-2. Siena is 6-4 winners of 6 of 8 after starting the season 0-2. UAlbany is averaging 75.3 PPG and giving up 66.1 PPG. Danes are shooting .463 from the field. UAlbany likely starters: G: E. Singletary, 6'1 Sr (14 PPG, 2.6 APG, .457 FG%) G: P. Hooley, 6'4 Sr (10.5 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 3.4 APG) G: R. Sanders, 6'4 Sr (11.5, 4.5, 42 3 FG%) F: M. Rowley, 6'8 Jr (8.4, 7.4, 58% FG) F: G. Stire, 6'7 So. (6, 6, 55% FG) Bench: J. Cremo 6'4, Fr (9, 3, 40% 3 FG) D. Ennema, 6'6 Jr T. Charles, 6'6 Jr J. Andrews, 6'3 Jr Sagarin has Siena favored by about a point (which includes "home court" - no Vegas line) Siena needs to limit the turnovers and keep shooting the ball well. Marquis will have to do a good job on Singletary. I also think Nico's (and Kenny) defense on Hooley and/or Sanders will be important too. Siena should have a big advantage up front let's hope Brett and JO can do to work! Good feeling about Siena's chances if we defend well and put two quality games back-to-back...should be a close game I'll take Siena 77-71. Think Cremo will be up for this game, both he and Hooley coming out of his funk worry me a bit. Hope we stay out of foul trouble and the refs don't dictate the game and let them play it out ........ Take care of the ball, limit fouls it should be a good one!

I will guess Brown will play a tight zone and try to deny ball to Brett and JO down low, if so we are going to have to hit our open shots, take care of ball and play good D- game is basically a tossup going in according to several sites and stats

Wonder if he tests the waters to see if we worked out the bugs. Hofstra had 3 guys hounding the ball on the perimeter and we couldn't find a seam or the corner.

I'm sure he did- don't know if UA plays that D or not- but its basically a gimmick defense that can work for short periods of time - hard to play an entire game of it. And I'm also guessing the Jimmy worked on attacking it this week

That was really just stall ball. Try that in the first half and our back court will have a field day

Well, we're defending the inside and the FG% is high as usual.
Winning the rebound war 21-14. That's key to maintain.
Decent 1st half. Still only 5 assists vs. 8 TOs. But ok.
UA is more disciplined. I hope we can win this one over the long haul.
Not much foul trouble so far...so that's good.
