Had no idea how hard Trump had it as he started off going to the workplace following college. He, today, admits it was hard going. His dad gave him a small loan of $1,000,000 to 'help" him start out in the cruel world! I'm impressed that he made it on his efforts alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trump is a billionaire, I'm not sure what exactly your point is. He is a very successful businessman I don't think anyone can dispute that. Are you jealous because your father didn't provide you with the same benefits that Trump received? Get over it, stop acting like a little crybaby. You libs despise wealth so much you want to take it from them and give it to yourselves - it's hypocritical and despicable.

Much like Romney disconnected himself from the middle class with a similar quote about the help he received from his parents, Trump has shown clearly that he either has no grasp of, or just doesn't give a crap about, the financial realities of the majority of the middle class of this country. In the end, this disconnect will help to ensure that he is, in fact, unelectable. For this I am thankful.

It turns out he was right about Russia among other things. His comments certainly hurt him no doubt about it, but so did the phony unemployment numbers before the election and Tea Party Pac delays from Lois Lerner and her crew. I'm not a Trump hater or fan but I certainly understand why he is popular. Most of his support comes from the middle class, you understand that right? Just like Romney's support. Many of us in NY think that everyone, especially a middle class person, is a Democrat. That's not the case in the rest of the country. Go Bernie Sanders! More free stuff please!

I hate these political posts on our Siena board, but I can't stay away from this one. "The reality is if Romney was President we would all be better off". Not my reality. Romney would have been absolutely owned by Congress, and you see how well they function. The most awful thing would have been his being bullied into another war--we're still paying for Cheney's adventure in Iraq, including the creation of ISIS (which the UK's Tony Blair now acknowledges was generated in part by the Iraq invasion). Trump is popular among certain people for the same reason as Limbaugh, Cruz and the other right-wingers. He speaks to people's fears, prejudices and ignorance--and he laughs all the while because he's getting more famous & making more money. As to Trump's business skills, the little bit of money ($1 million) his father gave him 40+ years ago is the equivalent to $5 million today with inflation figured in. By all accounts, he would have a much larger fortune right now if he had safely invested his money in bonds and the stock market rather than his various business ventures, in which he's failed many, many times. The adage "born on third base" applies. I don't take Trump seriously--the joke is on those who do.

Your post is pathetic. Romney was successful in Massachusetts working well with liberal democrats. Romney is not a divider, like the current president. Your analysis is not supported by the record.

Even if he invested the entire sum and made 15% annually he would have 388 million now instead of 4 billion. And growing due to everything else you said.

Trump isn't going to be the nominee - Rubio is. And that should make any democrat very, very worried. Rubio is the next JFK.

This is from that liberal rag...Fortune magazine--"Trump’s net worth has grown about 300% to an estimated $4 billion since 1987, according to a report by the Associated Press. But the real estate mogul would have made even more money if he had just invested in index funds. The AP says that, if Trump had invested in an index fund in 1988, his net worth would be as much as $13 billion. The S&P 500 has grown 1,336% since 1988."
