Direct Link - most game times are still TBD, but dates are set: www.sienasaints.com/sports/m-baskbl/sched/sien-m-baskbl-sched.htmlWhen's the last time we played Vermont so late in the non-conference slate? Seems like it's routinely been one of our first 3 or 4 games every season. The early season tourney must have pushed that back.

Only thing I don't like is we don't play our first home day until Nov. 28 a Saturday noon game against Loyola. Five straight to open the season on the road and six out of seven. If we can survive that and come home say 2-3 we'll be doing well. Vermont game also is an afternoon game on Tuesday, Dec. 29 - maybe we'll have more luck beating them in this different arrangement St. Bonaventure before Christmas as we look to win our third straight Franciscan cup. Home schedule looks good (Hofstra should be really good, SBU, UA 3 game home-stand there). Bucknell, UAlbany and Vermont should be good again. It's TIME to beat UA and UVM - enough is enough! We owe Cornell for last year too. I'd sign up for 6-5 against this schedule it is very challenging even without taking into account Duke/Wisconsin. 2015-16 Siena Saints non-conference scheduleNov. 13 @ Duke, TBD (ESPN) Nov. 15 @ Wisconsin, TBD (Big 10 Network) Nov. 20 Bryant/Radford/Prairie View, TBD Nov. 21 Bryant/Radford/Prairie View, TBD Nov. 24 @ Bucknell, 7pm Nov. 28 vs. Loyola, Noon Dec. 1 @ Cornell, 7pm Dec. 9 vs. Hofstra, 7pm Dec. 12 vs. UAlbany, 7:30pm Dec. 22 vs. St. Bonaventure, 7pm Dec. 29 @ Vermont, 2pm

They could probably go 2-9 and it wouldn't hurt them too much. Most of the teams are likely top 150. I'd say there's at least 4 top 100 there.

You might be right from an RPI perspective but not from a team/fan base mentality. The team needs to win games. Period. If you assume two losses to Duke/Wisconsin it is critical Siena go 3-1 against Radford/Bryant/Prairie View, Bucknell and Loyola. If we are 3-3 after six games I think most of us would be pleased with that. Then it is about going 3-2 in the other five OOC games to have a winning non-conference record. Now I'll go full optimist - if you go 6-5 against that schedule plus 14-6 in the MAAC and then win the tournament a 23-11 record probably is a top 75-80 RPI and a possible 13 seed.

Your 2008-2010 Saints would probably be 9-2 or 8-3 here. But these guys? With all the frosh? 6-5 is probably the high water mark. A lot of these teams are probably better than the bottom 7-9 teams of the MAAC. It won't be too insulting to get ripped apart early. I'm not even sure if this team will have any offensive chemistry in November. Maybe the teams' athleticism and defense talents get us through that if other teams are the same way...but it's a lot to ask. Beating veteran stars like Juan'ya Green, Bernardi and Tanksley? That's tough.. And UA and UVM have been kicking our asses. That right there would already be 5 losses. 6-5 would be a tremendous start but I'm not counting on that. I'm preparing for more in the 2-5 win range.

2-9 would be a killer-- from both a fan POV and even RPI- yeah losses to Duke and Wisconsin wont hurt-- but you have some RPI dogs in there in you are 2-9 then you are losing to likes of Bryan, Radford- Bucknell- Cornell Loyola - Albany seldom has good RPI-- Vermont.. no a 2-9 start and this team is screwed TUC would be a graveyard-- a 3rd straight loss to Albany would not be good for Jimmy's career, in fact Albany and Vermont have pretty much owned him since he arrived - have to start beating AE teams on regular basis
I agree with if everything went perfect 7-4 is possible 6-5 very possible - hoping for that or 5-6 at worse. If the team gets too far under 500 likely not good enough to recover this year and any sub 500 year there will be serious talk about firing Jimmy( probably wont happen but the talk will be there)

My guess is that they'll end up around .500 once you take Wisconsin and Duke out of the equation. So 5-6 or 4-7 in the OOC.
More importantly, what will be their record after the first weekend of MAAC play?

That's fair. I can see anything between 7-4 and 4-7. But who the heck really knows on July 8th? Last year we had visions of 8-1 or 9-0 with a "weaker" non-conference schedule and we finished 3-6. Two years ago Siena faced a similarly tough schedule (though not playing the likes of Duke/Wisconsin) and went 4-7. The road games will all be tough. Siena needs to hold serve at home like they two years ago in Jimmy's first season.

I could see 6-5. If we go 2-9, we'll be ranked after the first two wins then lose the next 9 as it goes to our heads.
I'm hoping for better than 6-5, but 6-5 is do-able.

And if you really are into karma, those of you going to the Duke game can hop off I40 at exit 240 to stay at the Siena Hotel...I kid you not. Just passed it today while on my way to RDU to catch my flight home.
