This pissed me off at first but ya know what truth be told UA earned a home game they kicked our ass as of late. We really didnt deserve to dictate shit. Fran built a Ferrari and DArg and co. turned it into a f'ing Yugo. You reap what you sow ! Do like the tournament idea I think someone may have read my original post/suggestion awhile back and hopefully incorporated it .... I'd love to see a tournament become the std Albany Cup incorporating other stronger mid major programs. Let's see how that shakes out if managed right it could be decent for the area. Guess the 3500 fans who saw the game last year and will not see it next year earned it too! Like many here have suggested tournament does makes sense . . . have Siena/Albany play in first game and winner plays winner of second game - guarantees a local club in the final.

As the TU reported, Siena "caved" during negotiations! I agree with other posters that our previous head coaches would not have agreed to the 9 mile (one way) road trip. However, it is not inconsistent with our current HC's view on who should play where. We have a 4 who successfully negotiated to play primarily at the 3, so what's wrong with having more than half our fan base out of "position" as well? After all, it's all about the MAAC, not the OOC.
Hope there is no truth to the rumor that when UA's season ticket sales close for the 2016-2017 season that the remaining open seating, with the exception of the 25 tickets normally comped to visiting AE teams, will be tarped for the Siena game!
This whole fiasco is a bad joke - on us.

They'll probably put in a vodka bar just for this game just to show they're as 'big' as us! UA has the resources to surpass us. I like the idea of having two good programs in the area, and it wouldnt surprise me if UA eventually had more fans. Their name represents an area on the map that more people can identify with, the future is bright for UA. Siena's future is uncertain. I don't like it, but that's the reality. You're right. Not to say that we can't regain the superiority we had, but we have to move now in order to do it. We lost the momentum we had and UA is ahead of us based on the short-term. Time to stem that tide. And, I like the idea of 2 good programs as well - everybody should. I'm not necessarily happy about moving the game to the SEFCU and it doesn't really make sense as far as the 'big game' goes, but this could be foreseen based on the last 5 years. Got to start winning consistently.

But the finances the UA has at his disposal (actually and potentially) doesn't hurt. Not an excuse, but a reality. We certainly have to do better.

I keep hearing how UA earned this with their 3 trips to the tournament. UA is not markedly better today than they were before. Siena is markedly worse. That's different. We went to the NCAA's 3 times in a row too. We won 2 games against BCS opponents. One could argue that the MAAC is better than the AE so we had a leg up...I would agree but note too that Siena also beat Stanford coming out of the NAC (pretty much the AE).
This whole thing says a lot more (negatively) about Siena than it does (positively) about UA.

Not sure what your point is other than UA is in a better position than we are right now, which is why they are now getting a game at the SEFCU. You're comparing us 6-7 years ago vs them now. Yes - we were better than they are now. I don't think you will even get many UA fans to argue that. But I do disagree that they have not markedly improved over the last 5 years and if done right they have a higher ceiling than we do due to their deep pockets, size overall and rising reputation. We move soon or we could get left in the dust.

One and done . . . any future games beyond the current contract will be at the TUC . . . probably tournament format but played on Siena's home court

How about you tell us how Siena will NEVER play at SEFCU. One and done . . . any future games beyond the current contract will be at the TUC . . . probably tournament format but played on Siena's home court I'm told far more likely next contract will start at SEFCU...meaning TUC-SEFCU-TUC (current contract)-SEFCU.... There is a reason this is a three year contract. 2 for 2 was a lot harder by Siena to sell then a 2-1...the devil is in the details though.
