Ted Cruz on Monday at Liberty University announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President in 2016. In that very same speech he stated, that if elected he would repeal "every word of the Affordable Care Act " aka Obamacare. No news there. He also announced his wife is taking a leave of absence from Goldman Sachs and would be losing her health care benefits! Ted Cruz on Tuesday gives an interview to Dana Bash on CNN and states the because his wife left her job he and his family are now without health care. Welcome to America Senator Cruz. He then states that he is going to get insurance through the Federal Exchange set up by the Affordable Care Act. He further states that it is one of the best parts of the law - the same law he vowed to repeal in its entirety the day before and for which neither he nor his party has a substitute! He said he is following the law - not true in any sense - the law states you must have insurance, it doesn't mandate how you get it. He could have gone on Cobra - big $'s or on the open market (which has always existed) at bigger $'s or his wife could have bought a medical insurance company with the coin she got from Goldman Sachs! Talk about Republican hypocrisy! Like I said, it can't get any better than this.........

Congress provides healthcare to its members, but a provision of the ACA says they need to buy it through an exchange. He's saying he agreed with the provision that Congress should be expected to use the program it created instead of having their own better plans.

He wasn't using the plan when his wife was working, their insurance came from her benefits - if those in Congress buy it through the exchange, they get a subsidy! Many have declined the subsidy. There is no requirement for members to buy it if they have or get insurance elsewhere. I am quite certain his wife's Goldman Sachs plan was much better and likely no cost! I am also quite sure he was shocked to see what us common folks would have to pay without Obamacare.

I'm just correcting the record. Is he taking the subsidy? I mean, since he's an employee of the federal government, that's a benefit he is entitled to receive. What would be proved by him declining the subsidy?

He read green eggs and ham while trying to block obamacare. This is ironic because green eggs and ham is about trying new things--- and perhaps liking them.

He said he's declining the subsidy as many in the Congress have. I guess that's a plus - but did you even see the duplicity in his comments at Liberty the day before? He got surprised by a very bright reporter and he'll be backpedalling big time. Sort of like a new "I voted against it before I voted for it" or vice versa as in "I hated it until I needed it". The guy scares me.

It's how laws get passed and it's how they get repealed. Fair and square. I think the law probably needs a lot of bipartisan tweeking, this may be his way of negotiating, posturing is part of the process as well.

I think the law probably needs a lot of bipartisan tweeking, this may be his way of negotiating, posturing is part of the process as well. Thanks for the civics 101 lesson CR. FYI, the Republican House has voted 30 or more times to repeal and it has been approved by the Republican majority each time. Hasn't been brought to the floor of the Senate for obvious reasons but it would be defeated as 60 votes (not 51) are needed (60 are needed to suppress a filibuster). Now that the Republicans have the majority in the Senate (more than 50 seats) they can change the rules (yes,it's a Senate rule and not a Constitutional provision) and reset it to 51 for passage. Obviously with Obama in office even a House/Senate passed bill would be vetoed. With a Republican holding the Presidency, it would get repealed and 16 million Americans would LOSE their health care. Of course, Cruz, as President (God my a-hole quivers thinking that would ever even be a possibility) would ensure repeal and he'd be back on the Government's free insurance ticket.

Rand Paul, Scott Walker and, I hope you are sitting down, Chris Christie. Carly Fiorina has some interesting views but I don't see a Fiorina-Clinton woman on woman pairing. Marco Rubio might actually take some steps to solve the immigration issue. Is your breathing/heart rate back in a normal range yet? Of course my "without trepidation" vote would depend on platform and who the Democrats actually nominate. Clinton would get my vote today but a lot of water (global warming) will paas under the dam between now and the conventions.

I am a Rand Paul fan and Rubio as well. But I would be happy with most of the republicans you mentioned. The fact that you could support republicans like that and support a extreme left wing president like obama is puzzling.

For me it's a balance of common sense and compassion and I see both in a lot of candidates to differing degrees.
