Will Brown is building a very good pension .Didn't he come from a State community college? Bonnies couldn't offer enough to overcome the future security. He has 16 years of service credit at age 43. He could leave now and still get a pension at a later age based on that, but he would need to be in state service at age 55 to be able to retire with health benefits. The pension amount would also bump after 30 years of service credit, so it would be beneficial to wait for age 57 in another 14 years from now. Does UAlbany stay satisfied with him for that long?

I've never looked at SUNY's contract with Will but I don't think it's a given that him receiving a State pension is a guarantee. If he's an employee of the State /SUNY then it's highly likely he's accruing years of service. If his contract lists him as a consultant or "contracted" as opposed to an employee, I'm not sure that qualifies. Any State pension experts out there to weigh in on this? From a "contract" only perspective Will may not be a State employee and not entitled to a pension (unless his contract allows for it or allows him to "buy in").

He's a state employee according to SeeThroughNY, although it's possible that he wasn't earlier in his career, and BSG is right that he could opt out.

Except that the same can be said of patsos. You might want to rethink your argument. Actually, it's common knowledge Brown was offered the Bonnie job, so too late. Olddave doesn't remember what mashed up thing he had dribbling down his chin this morning during breakfast, you expect him to remember brown getting an a10 offer?

Why do you even care? You've admitted you don't even know the man, yet you're insulted that he isn't liked on a Siena board?? You didn't even want him a few years ago. We all remember you screaming for his head, and he had to be fired. Then he gets a few kids down under and he's John Wooden?

How do you remember such a thing... 1) you never read the UA board (we know that's a lie and 2) I never once said to fire him. I said the ad has a tough decision when brown by his own admission tanked after Jamar. Got some Australians? Maybe he should recruit exclusively Baltimore... Lol I'm not insulted... I met brown once face to face... It was observation that I found amusing.

Can this thread be renamed "Will Brown's contract"? I keep thinking I'll find something here about injuries forcing freshmen into action... :-)

Click I certainly do remember he was offered the job at St B. Was he? That was what 6 years ago, and according to UA fans he is the second coming of J Wooden. Man is great big game coach , ask JP, but not yet 500. I don't blame him for not leaving UA, nice gig for him and his family. 300k for under 500 in one of the weakest conferences in the nation. This is America, god bless him. He is doing well enough, making the Tourney but one must wonder why there are no offers, yeah besides the St B one, and again how serious was that, perhaps it was being used to get more out of UA which was hinted to.

"offers" normally come after an interview. If he shows no interest in a job, why would they "offer" it? He's a NY guy, there aren't that many gigs better than what he has, so he's not actively pursuing a job.

SMH when our Freshman are pushed aside for a discussion about Will Brown's pension/retirement! Oh, c'mon. Our freshman are not "pushed aside," literally or metaphorically, just because message board threads are wont to go all over the place.

Ok, pushed aside was a bad choice of words (only 2 coffees so far today).....I'm just saying Will Brown's retirement planning is not worthy of so much discussion. I admit....I'm not a fan of his.

Wait. You're telling me a Siena fan is not a fan of Will Brown, especially with his dominance lately in both the series and NCAA appearances. Well, knock me over with a feather!!!!!
