What's the scoop. I keep hearing that Siena is in dire straights. I've heard enrollment has been dropping over the last few years. What's going on? I know the school is expensive - but no more than any other private school (and much less in some cases).
Anyone have any insight?

Pool of applicants is dropping nationwide ... Will not go up again until millennials children are of college age ... Colleges have been spending millions of dollars on non-academics (e.g. Health clubs, dorms, etc) trying to attract this shrinking number of potential applicants. Will be interesting to see what happens in the future to the brick and mortar model of higher education.
IMO All of this is a precursor to a shakeup in athletic programs due to spiraling costs.

The school ran a deficit for the first time last year. Approximately $2.5 million. Much of the drop was attributed to kids opting to take cheaper online courses over the summer elsewhere and then transferring those credits to Siena. Not dire, but a wake up call.
