That was great! Like the Yankees or not, the guy is class. It's just baseball, but nice to know there's still some 'heroes' out there.
And kudos to Gatorade, not sure where this is airing but not one product placement there.

That better be his last AB.......no reason to have his last AB in Boston. Go, dress, and bring the line-up card out before every game.
End your career on YOUR home field, hitting a GW single to RF. THAT IS Derek Jeter.

Storybook ending to his career in AARP "oops" Yankee Stadium. His last game at shortstop - he will DH in Boston. Classy kid who did everything right.

I was surprised Showalter took the shift off for his former player's 2-out, runner on 2nd, tie game last (as it turned out) at bat. Was that move a "gift" or a defensive lapse? With the shift on, the Captain grounds out! Not taking anything away from Derek's walk-off hit, just playing "what if"!

Rigged ? Maybe all sports is rigged ?! Ted Williams batting 406 season in 1941 ?! Joe DiMaggio's 56-Game Hit Streak ?! Hank Arrons ( non roid ) HR record ?! The Yanks 27 World Series championships !? Duke's fifteen NCAA National Championships ?! SU's active NCAA-record 43 consecutive winning seasons ?! Siena beating Ohio State ? Siena having back to back to back MAAC Championships! If Siena wins the MAAC with Jimmy ..MAYBE that rigged to get him the Maryland job! What a load of BULLSHIT!

Well, it looks like this author may have struck a nerve. It's okay, you can believe that Jeter happened to get a legit walk off hit in his last at bat at Yankee stadium when he hadn't done that in the previous 7 seasons (on an 85 MPH middle of the plate fastball after the Yanks closer blows a 3 run lead and with the switch off). After all, as Fox sports quoted "It's just like a fairy tale". While you are at it, you can also choose to believe that nobody did 'roids, Pete Rose didn't bet on baseball, and the mob had nothing to do with the 1919 World Series if it makes you feel better. He is a Hall of Famer--- the rest is just window dressing.

Don't diminish the limelight Gorvy. I would guess th24, a "video" expert in his own "right" (pun intended - slow news day), probably believed women fall down in elevators and knock themselves out all the time! Sports heroes are akin to Gods - until questions are asked or the facts surface. Oh well, Jeter still had to hit the ball - but wait, wasn't that what he was hired to do? I have been a Jeter fan over his entire major league Yankee career but his pre-retirement canonization was, IMHO, way over the top - his number on the Corning Tower - jeez! The kid only played in Albany over a six week span and I doubt his addition to the AC Yankees had any measureable impact on Albany's economy. He did, hopefully, pay a lot of NYS taxes via the bloated Yankee payroll as they all do. I bet in 20 or 30 years kids will be telling their friends that Jeter took classes with their father or mother at Siena!!!!!!!!!!!
