Another liberal criticizing Fox. That is a local network not the main Fox network. Keep watching msnbc that's more your speed.

We all need a little thicker skin or a sense of humor. It goes a long way. Your hero Reagan had both (esp the humor) and it served him very well.

And I also have a good sense of humor. You seem to have designated yourself as the the moderator of reason. I think we have had this conversation before. With regard to the gipper you are right he had those qualities. I would argue however in today's world Reagan would be vilified much like Romney was.

I completely agree with your last statement (and will resist responding to your omission of the fact that other Presidents post-Reagan have also shared the honor of partisan vilificatio). Today's American political climate reflects a complete lack of any measure of respect for the "office" of President. Watergate and interngate, major transgressions of Presidents on both sides of the political spectrum, started and encouraged the complete erosion of Presidential respect. The evolution and power of the internet, its anonymity coupled with the explosion of 24/7 cable news and its insatiable appetite for "Breaking News" have placed the office under an electron microscope with a myriad of "users" hell bent on finding even the most miniscule flaw that is then amplified and thrown out as red meat for any and all critics of the current office holder. That same microscope hinders or precludes any bipartisan support from the Congress, that other very necessary element for effective governmental action, on any subject. I wonder what the world would be like had Roosevelt or Kennedy been forced to operate in the environment Presidents Bush and Obama (I included both so I'm not seen as being partisan) face today. Both Roosevelt and Kennedy shared human weaknesses but those many indiscretions were hidden from the public eye allowing leaders on both sides of the aisle to work toward resolution of problems facing the country - the reason they were elected.

I think the media amplified and hyperbolized the flaws of Romney and minimized those of Obama, with the exception of Fox News. That said, I agree with a good portion of your post.
