Not inconceivable that Wright/Cole/Poole/Long/Silas start and Bisping is off the bench in two minutes and still getting close to 30 minutes a game. As long as Silas or JO start that puts whoever comes off the bench for Siena in good position for 6th man. Actually that is inconceivable. Why on earth would anyone start Silas over Bisping? It's almost a certainty that Silas has lost his starting job (he had already lost it by the end of last season). The only question is who will replace him. How does it hurt to win the jump ball and bring Bisping in two minutes later? I like starting the center and bringing either Bisping or Cole off the bench quick. That is basically what we did for all of last season.

KK has a point. Taking Hymes starting spot away to begin the new era was hard enough. Bisping is proven in a Patsos system and it would be a demotion to take his starting spot away. His strong finish and MVP series in the CBI championship has placed him at the top of our lineup. He is preseason first team because he is expected to lead a preseason #2 Team in scoring and possibly rebounding. We were only going to get one on the first team and most thought it would be Poole. I am surprised that Poole didn't get anything and maybe even Wright since he had the numbers but not surprised about Lavon as he has a lot to prove still.

There is no way Bisping doesn't start. Barring injuries you can lock Wright, Poole, Long and Bisping into the starting line-up. The other spot is up in the air. The two most likely choices would be JO or Brandwijk. I guess Silas could start too but I think he'll be coming off the bench next year. I think Jimmy will bring Cole off the bench (6th man) but he will play major minutes. Then you've got White and Oliver. Hymes is the back-up PG. That's 11 men right there and you still have Paige, Gottfried and Wolfe to account for. Man competition is going to be fierce and that's a good thing. It forces everyone to improve their games! As far as the all-MAAC preseason selection goes...these are just two guys opinions. When the coaches do theirs before the season Poole will be either on the 1st or 2nd team. Bisping will be on either the 2nd or 3rd team. Long and Wright (one but not both) could sneak onto the third team. But preseason means nothing..you want the POSTSEASON honors. We could easily get four players on an all-MAAC postseason team if we are as good as we hope and expect to be.

Lets wait and see how the new guys fit in before you set a starting line up. Freshman started last year, no reason they can't start this year. The coach will play who he thinks is best fit to suit his style of play.

Freshman started last year, no reason they can't start this year. Five reasons: Marquis Wright, Robert Poole, Lavon Long, Brett Bisping, and Patrick Cole. How did freshman start last year? A: Our entire roster was depleted. Marquis was a true point guard joining a Siena team that did not have a point guard, period. With Poole moving over to the starting 2 position, Lavon Long's competition for the starting 3 spot was Rich Audu and Ryan Oliver who was recovering from injury. To win a starting spot, Jimmy Paige has to beat out Lavon Long, a proven starter who has improved greatly according to a very knowledgeable and reliable source, or Robert Poole, a senior returning All-MAAC selection. Even if one of these players gets injured, we are stacked at the 2 and 3 spot. Oliver is a different player from a year ago, Cole is a force, and White looks to improve. Gottfried must beat out Poole (and the many returning 2 guards) or Marquis Wright. Even if Wright gets injured, it'll be a real challenge for Gottfried to out-play a senior, Evan Hymes, who will be hungry to fill in for Wright. But, I'll concede that Brandwijk has a chance. But, when have we ever seen a 6'8"+ big man come in and start? The MAAC has a poor record of recruiting 6'8"+ forwards who are built to be starters as freshman. Franklin and Haddix would have been recruited by BCS-type schools if they were 6'8"+. Brandwijk didn't get those kinds of offers for a reason. Brandwijk plays very differently than Rossiter and OD, but just like these big men, he is going to be a long-term project.

Brandwijk plays very differently than Rossiter and OD, but just like these big men, he is going to be a long-term project. There are going to be good players getting benched. A lot will come down to chemistry. I hope Lavon expands his perimeter game and improves his assist ratio. I think he could do that some but I don't think Wright can improve his shooting that much. Cole may not help the 'shooting cause' either. We're kind of like the Major League movies. A bunch of guys with specialties. There could be a lot of pressure on Patsos to mix and match. We have every piece needed to win but it's all in difference places. As far as the whole Paige thing, I don't know if he gets the time, but I hope he does. He could be one of the few well rounded players. WB could be too. To be honest, I want them all to play a lot. I like certain things about every player on the team. They all bring something unique. I love watching Hymes getting on a roll, I like White's hustle and defense, Wolfe throwing down and making his FTs, Oliver's smarts, and on and on.

I don't know if anyone saw this video of Brandwijk. This is him playing as a freshman in HS. vimeo.com/24715645Shows off mostly his driving skills in this one. Competition isn't great but you get to see his skills from when he was just a baby.
