I’m sure this will continue to evolve as summer turns to fall—but as we get reports of how summer workouts are going here is what we are looking at right now
Starting 5 will be Wright Poole Bisping Long
5th starter will be a battle between Silas- JO- Brandwijk
Cole will be 1st player off bench and will end up playing starter minutes, Hymes will back up PG, next guard off bench will be battle between Oliver and White—with Mo having a slight edge as of this writing
Rest of players will be fighting to be 11th or 12th man
I know some of you don’t like redshirting—but Paige and Wolfe might be good candidates

Paige is a scorer who is expected to be one of the team's best 3 point shooters. And he comes in with a college ready body. He has the look of a player that comes in ready for the college game right away. It would be kind of stupid to redshirt him.

Agreed. Before the CBI look at all of the game threads. Every one of them the biggest concern and obvious weakness of the team was not being athletic enough and the lack of 3 point shooters, in fact also just perimeter 2 point jump shots. Paige and Wolfe can possibly help resolve those two weaknesses so I don't see the reasoning of having them redshirt. IMO, the JR and SR years of this past season's recruiting class are the breakout years. While expecting a solid season this upcoming year, with the weak OOC schedule, there is not a player on the roster that should not be able to compete and contribute in some way this season.

I totally agree with Tony's assessment. Especially that he has the #5 spot as a question mark. Last year at this time, Bisping wasn't on many people's radar. Could JO be next? There is at least 25MPG for him at the #5 spot if he earns it. Or perhaps something even more surprising will happen, i.e., WB or Wolfe getting those minutes.

Also, I think Hoopsfan is right about the 3PT weakness issues from last year. But, I have always felt that Poole would be a bigger threat from the arc if he had fresher legs playing 28-29MPG instead of 34. I think he'll see fewer minutes because Jimmy will have more confidence in Oliver and White off the bench (and of course Cole will earn minutes). Fewer minutes for Poole will not be a slap in the face because I think he'll be taking the same number of shots but making a higher percentage. Even at 29MPG Poole can make 2nd team All MAAC. And when he's on the bench, Oliver will be knocking them down. But, to really solve this weakness you often need two 3PT scorers out at the same time, so I think Paige has a chance if he really can shoot against D1 defense. But, I don't think this is going to happen for Paige this year.

I think the key to the wings will be:
If your shots are falling you will be balling

Sharkey knows best. I don't know who will win the playing time. It really is up in the air. But, as we saw last year, it will all come down to how well the team is able to put the ball in the basket. Not enough shooters, and the offense is easy to defend and bogs down. It happened every game and it was not a coincidence which lineups were on the floor when this happened. There needs to be either improvement of the non-shooting starters or the lineup will be largely determined by who is making their shots. Whether that be a big man or wing, who knows. Teams will start focusing on stopping our high post game soon enough. You can't live on that alone.

We will play 7 major mins. We have a 3 headed center and several players at the 2,3, and 4 spots that will score more this season. 3pt shooting and overall shooting percentages will improve through player development

Shooting will be better across board- people forget how young we were last year, not only are players better they understand the “system” better and understand difference between a good shot and a bad one. Plus are just much more comfortable playing D1 ball. One thing I disagree with, 8 will play major min Poole-Bisping- Long- Cole-Wright-J0- WB- White Oliver Silas and Hymes will see spot min Oliver might replace White—but Mo has a much larger upside, plus he helps us with one of our weakness, he is very athletic and might be our best on the ball defender, giving him an edge over Oliver

I'd guess
5 - Silas (10), Ogunyemi (18), Bisping (12) 4 - Bisping (16), Long (14), Brandwijk (8) 3 - Long (14), Poole (12), White (8), Paige (4), Cole (2) 2 - Poole (16), Cole (18) Oliver (6) 1- Wright (32), Hymes (8)
Spot minutes for Gottfried RS - Wolfe

While some of these lineups seem logical, none of them take in to account the reality of downtime due to illness, emergencies and injuries. So, some of the players near the bottom of the chart will get much more time than stated here... and with the team still trying crack the top third of the Maac in the wake of the devastation caused by the unmentionable, we need all hands on deck at this point. As we saw last year, just one win can make the difference between winning a CBI championship and not even making the tournament.... with higher expectations this season along with heightened awareness you never know if that 13th man will make the difference yet again.

34.7 33.9 26.9 26.4
19.8 16.8 16.6
12.6 10.8 5.0
4 players played major mins last season. No one can play 35 mins if we play more players more mins this year

You think the sub happy Jimmy Patsos is just gonna stick with 7 guys when he looks down the bench and sees all those faces? They are gonna have to repaint the floor near the scorer's table.

Good point even your 13th man can make a difference. Case it point I remember Richard Audu hitting a big three against Niagara at home this year. We won that game by closest of margins. Had we lost that game (and everything else plays out the same) we finish 14-18 and probably don't get invited to the CBI. How much different do our prospects look for 2014-2015 then? We'd still have optimism but it's nothing like we have now because of what the CBI championship run showed us.
