Recess appointments are NOT gone - nice FOX News like misleading headline technique.
Recess appointments are still allowed under the Constitution and still quite possible - SCOTUS struck down the Administration's interpretation of the Constitution that if the Senate was in pro forma session and not conducting or intending to conduct business it was in "recess". The House (that other bastion of our Government that is under Republican control and in full obstructionist mode) must approve the Senate's declaration of recess and they of course declined.
The appointments (NLRB) that were made were later affirmed by the Senate - that affirmation clearly showed the House and Senate Republicans did not have problems with the candidates, rather they just wanted to continue their announced long range plan of preventing the President from doing the job he was elected to. Pure and simple obstructionism.
President Obama's use of recess appointments totals around 40 while Bush and Clinton's numbers each total three to four times that num ber.

Recess should have been in quotes. They were not recess appointments, that's the point.
The source is the Supreme Court and the Washington Post.
9-0 and you still are a believer, good for you.
If making the president follow the rules and respect the separation of powers of all three branches of government is obstructionism, than so be it. Just because you like what he does, doesn't excuse the fact that it is lawless. This shouldn't be a difficult concept to understand even for you.
