Before we get too deep into the blame Obama for everything game, here is a link to the timeline for US operations in Iraq from 3/19/2003 when we invaded through and beyond the 12/15/11 declaration of the end of the war and the 12/18/11 removal of the last American troops. thinkprogress.org/report/iraq-timeline/Key points: A post Saddam civil war was predicted to occur whenever US forces left the country - those forecasts were right on the money, US invaded under a trumped up pretext and without, I repeat, without any exit strategy at all, US disbanded the Iraqi army sending the top military staff into the ranks of the unemployed - the top, very bitter Sunni Officers are now part of the ISIS forces, Billions upon billions of unbudgeted US dollars were spent during Bush's reign to train Iraqi forces - that worked well, Following free elections, the newly elected Iraqi President wanted us out as did the American public that elected President Obama - we couldn't stay without the Iraqi Government's approval and they flat out wanted us gone - remember the neocons said our goal wasn't to occupy and hold Iraq!!!!, The Iraqi President maintained a sectarian administration further alienating the Sunnis and Kurds - those action created the perfect climate for a civil war, which we know have raging in country, The Iraqi army has little desire to fight and are surrendering faster than the Ethiopians did when Mussolini invaded at the beginning of WWII, There is no solution that we can bring to the mess we have created - best case is the creation of three separate Islamic States - we were aiding ISIS when they were just fighting the Syrian regime - a classic case of not really knowing who you are helping - lots of US supplied and captured munitions are now raining down on Baghdad, We can thank God that the planned shipments of Apache helicopters and F-16 fighters earmarked for Iraq didn't go yet. They'd be in the hands of ISIS forces and the rest of the Middle East would be in even deeper shit. So in summary, 4792 Americans died, over 36,000 Americans were wounded (many severely), hundreds of thousands of Iraqis were killed, billions of US dollars were wasted training a paper tiger army, well trained and equipped Islamic militants now control a large geographical area encompassing parts of Syria and an ever increasing footprint in Iraq, and soon the Iranians will likely be moving into the Shiite areas in southern Iraq! Wow, what a worthwhile adventure little Georgie sent us on and all for NOTHING! Iraq was soooo much better off under Saddam and we might have been able to quell al-Qaida and the Taliban had Bush kept his eye on the ball in Afghanistan.
