Jermaine Lawrence picks Manhattan. How the Jaspers keep all of their recruits and land Lawrence, with all of the Masiello craziness amazes me. have to move Jaspers close to head of the MAAC.

Have to move Jaspers close to head of the MAAC. Why? Are they are going to bench Emmy or Pankey to play this guy? Or Williams or Usilo if he insists on SF? I think they will be happy to get out of him what Pankey gave them last year. This guy is not Rhamel Brown. And Rhamel Brown is what they need.

Lawrence is going to start for Manhattan. Cant put too much stock into his freshmen numbers. He was never going to start at Cincy last year, missed some games because he was hurt and also only played 11 games his SR year due to injury. Lets be realistic, all I have read is the Sophomore jump and the development of the current Siena players, yet a top ranked player will not have an impact in the MAAC? I would not be happy if I was Usilo because looking at different sites this woman that is his "advisor" is absolutely crazy and had many demands, and it sounded like Lawrence playing a lot of SF was one of them. There is not a chance this advisor would send him to Manhattan without guarantees of starting and who knows what else. that's the business of D-1 hoops and the Jaspers might have made a deal with the Devil

Last year everyone said Pankey was going to dominated the league too. Lawrence didn't even make half of his FTs. He finished poorly at the rim and his rebounding and shotblocking was average.
He's a big athlete who dribbles well for his size.
He doesn't help them in the areas the need help in that they lost with the seniors. Aka shooting and shotblocking. He's a good pickup but not necessarily one that affects their place in the standings significantly.

Good get for Manhattan but (rankings out of HS aside) we're still talking about a guy that averaged under 3 PPG last year. Billy Madison just needs to get his homework done now! Iona did pick up a player... Alex Kline @therecruitscoop 1h Iona has landed a commitment from 2014 Canarias Basketball Academy (ESP) wing Jan Svandrlik, according to @eurohopes. Gals are swinging and missing on their top targets. But don't worry according to the Iona fans they have the three best players in the league in English, Williams and Laury...you're not going to win the MAAC title with only three good players even really good ones.

Have to chuckle over the delusional Iona fans- a week ago they were talking about getting Lawrence and a deep NCAA run-= this despite the fact Iona stood very little chance to land Lawrence over Hofstra ( far superior facilities ) and Manhattan. Add to that the fact like most low majors Iona never does anything of note in post season and I can’t stop from laughing. I correctly predicted a week ago Lawrence would go to Hofstra or Manhattan over the so called best program in tri state area... LOL
Getting back to Lawrence the kid avg 2.8 points last year- lets hold off anointing Jaspers a contender – Jaspers will be solid but you don’t lose your 3 best players and not skip a beat

Once fully healthy, I suspect he may be more of an impact transfer than Pankey was. Those two together are going to be a formidable front court at this level. Manhattan now easily has the MAAC's best recruiting class. Patsos better have a blockbuster class when he replaces Poole, Silas, and Hymes.

Lawrence played 26 games shot 33% from the floor.. listen the kid has potential but he was over his head at Cincinnati-- not all highly rated recruits make it. The UC board said he isn't even that athletic He did turn his ankle and miss 8 games in middle of season kid has been injury prone -he was hurt for most of his Jr and Sr years in HS. and of course hurt his ankle at UC, so his last 3 seasons he has yet to play a complete season without injury..biggest knock on Lawrence is he is 'soft"

It was his senior year of H.S. that he only played 11 games due to injury. And although he played in 26 games, he was injured at Cincinnati too - and it was his toe. Remember how Burdine never quite got it going because of constant foot problems? I think Lawrence is in a similar situation. The dude was likely in over his head at Cincinnati because of his lean frame - he's the identical height and weight as Wolfe. I don't think he's going to have the career one would expect of a supposedly top 25 recruit, but he'll have an easier time of it at this level.

No question he has potential- he was a very highly rated recruit- but he has been injury prone. He was only a freshmen and if he adds some muscle might make a nice sophomore jump and dont get me wrong he is a nice pick up for jaspers- I'm just not ready to proclaim him the best big in MAAC next season -- he does have to prove it on the court
