I like the 5 foul rule, rewards depth. Definitely think a 30 second shot clock would be good though.

5 foul rule is prehistoric and needs to be changed. The game is soooo much more physical now, and has been. Too many games are decided by ticky-tack fouls on star, difference-maker players. 3 fouls a half is fair with how many times the whistle blows during a game nowadays.
People that pay good money want to see the best players on the floor, not on the bench with 16 min left in the 1st half because of 2 fouls.

Don't have a problem with 5 fouls and DQ because college basketball is a 40 minute game in regulation. The NBA plays 8 more minutes thus players get an extra foul to use. I agree with $cott in that it rewards depth and you have to be smart about how to use your fouls (both players and coaches taking players out). What I would like to see (and probably won't with the new rules) is less ticky tack nickle dimers called. As for the shot clock...30 wouldn't be bad but leaving it at 35 is OK too.
This is probably too radical but I wouldn't mind them getting rid of the one and one foul shots. It seems like it rewards teams who are trailing late in the game...sure good shooters should be able to make them but the first one rims out and it's just as good as a turnover for the opposition.
Also moving the ball to the frontcourt after a TO they should consider. Coaches would have to be cognizant (see Jimmy at Marist) of keeping at least one in their pocket at the end of the game. The game is pretty much over if team A takes the lead with less than 3 seconds left to go. Of course it's debatable as you don't want to punish the defense either but it could make end of game situations more interesting.
Watching the NBA playoffs...pro basketball is so much different than college. Obviously higher level of quality but I still love college hoops the best. The difference is much bigger in basketball NBA to college then it is in football NFL to college (still a big gap).

I like the current game. I wouldn't change it. This is not the NBA.
The beauty of the college game is the flexibility to play different styles. Play slow, fine. Play fast, fine. Press, sure. Don't press, ok.
I wouldn't change a thing.
Any new rule that comes along will never benefit Siena. They will only benefit the BCS teams agenda.
As a general rule of thumb, if Jay Bilas agrees with it, it's evil.

I agree with Kk. All these attempts to cover up the diminishing quality of play due to dilution will not work. The 30 second clock will lead to more turnovers and lower field goal percentages. In fact-- this rule may even reduce scoring-- laugh now but watch it play out. The six fouls is ludicrous in a 40 minute game-- why not forgo dribbling passing and shooting-- just make it a free throw contest. Finally I would do the opposite of what mts suggest and get rid of the double bonus. Can't make free throws? Give the ball to the other team and speed up the game. Don't like the bring the ball to half court idea either-- unfair advantage to the losing team.

Don't have a problem with 5 fouls and DQ because college basketball is a 40 minute game in regulation. The NBA plays 8 more minutes thus players get an extra foul to use. Although that suggests that DQ'd players should become eligible again in overtime, with a 5-foul limit in regulation and a 6-foul limit in OT.

Except that NBA players don't get a 7th foul in overtime. Besides-- it wouldn't even be fair as tied teams should have to live with how they got there (by either using all their fouls or not)-- much like in hockey with penalties.

Agree with KK and Gorvy, college basketball needs to differentiate itself from the NBA not copy it.
Don't care how physical the game is, the same rules apply to everyone, don't foul and there are no issues.
I thought the same thing as Gorvy about the 30 second clock.
