Strange recruit for Iona. Looking at his stats he did not attempt one three point shot last year. Plays with a high motor and a banger who scores inside. I guess they are looking for a player to play some defense and help on the boards as a one year player. Not really impressed.
On another note Iona and Manhattan are on the list of schools for Jermaine Lawrence, transfer from Cincy and top 25 recruit. tough odds against the MAAC schools considering the other schools on his list but if Iona or Manhattan can ever get him he would be a game changer.

They were 8-24 in the Big South and his rebounding and shotblocking rates weren't great. Turnover rate was bad and he can't hit FTs either. That conference is really bad.
He doesn't provide them with anything they lack nor does he fit their style. He looks like a filler piece. They must have struck out somewhere.
Likely a non-factor even when he miraculously gets measured at 6-8 in New Rochelle.

So the rules didn't change? The rules did change in that there are no more "hardship waivers" to come home to take care of grannie. However if you graduate early (like this kid did) you can transfer without sitting out a year. But the hardship waiver no longer being available is a big blow to Iona. Dublin doesn't look like much more than a role player...Iona is hurting English, Williams and Laury are all very good but it won't be good enough to win the league. Iona basically played six guys last year and three graduated - Armand (their best player by far) Bowman and Mike Poole (best defensive player on a team who didn't play much defense) The other kid they are looking at is very good but he would have to sit out a year if they landed him but as Hoopsfan pointed out the competition for him is pretty tough.

Gals have struggled on recruiting trail this year. They have been either snubbed and/ or had a few recruits not qualify ( big shock)Having said Iona still should be pretty good this year- but they are far from an overwhelming favorite some of their delusional fans think. Iona has some serious question marks rebounding, defense up front (and defense overall) while they will still score this year losing Armand and Bowman will hurt.. Like I said Iona will still be good and are a solid bet for a top 3 finish – but Amayo better be really good. ..plus Iona’s roster sometimes isn’t finalized till late summer—so I am by no means writing gals off. No doubt this year’s Iona teams has more question marks than last few years – but have potential to be very good
