You really are an idiot. He was arrested for refusing the leave the room after interupting other parents who were speaking in support of the book, a book that discusses bullying and a school shooting.
This guy is an education reform activist who will use the media attention related to his "arrest" to futher his cause. He got exactly what he wanted.

An education reform activist ? Is that what we are calling parents that speak up now?? As someone who works in the field of education..this parent has every right to object to this book and be outraged!
And I would highly recommend more parents speak up if they don't agree with school policies or lesson plans!

Doesn't matter if he's an education reform activist or not, he disrupted that meeting and would not shut up per this link. As nolasaint said he literally asked to be arrested. And that's ok too. Others have been arrested as a form of protest, but don't be surprised when they do or shocked when they do. boston.cbslocal.com/2014/05/06/father-arrested-for-protesting-racy-novel-at-nh-high-school/I agree wholeheartedly that he has the right to object & protest, but if he becomes disruptive and refuses to either shut up or leave, he got what he asked for. What should bother us even more is the underlined comment below. What's the point of the notification if a parent has no choice? And I have no choice over what my child is exposed to? Not saying they have to ban (or not assign) the book, but parents should have the right to say they don't want their child participating in something they feel is objectionable.

Schools are not the same as they once were! Too many times politics and stupidity are playing role in a kids education. Parents again..have every right to vent their frustration in rational manor! But too many times the schools do what they want ..unless media catches wind of the story. Two recent examples... School district officials in California under fire after an assignment, which asked students to compose a written debate over whether the Holocaust was "merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain." www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxOitxWi7dwAn 8 year old boy was suspended 3 days for flashing a gun sign. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJHuHxoFEkA

I have to admit to being torn about this dad being arrested. It seems clear from a few of the comments that they use a form of parliamentary procedures in their meetings. This guy clearly violated them. We also don't know what he may have done prior to the unrecognized comments (read: interruption) the lead to his removal. That being said, based on what we saw in the video it was a very tame meeting including his 'outburst' ... so being arrested for not exiting after a seemingly lightning quick hook, by a police officer nonetheless, at a public meeting for speaking his piece (and he did give up the floor reasonably quickly)is way over the police state line in my book. Further I didn't hear anyone on the video from the board asking for him to leave or for help handling a disorderly attendee or more importantly anyone else in the audience seemingly in disagreement with him once he started speaking - once again this is seemingly way over the police state line.
Make no mistake about it there is a huge war to change this country being waged in our schools and in our media. The founding principles of this country are being turned into bad ideas and the big government socialist ways of so many failed and failing countries' governments is what our children are being taught and our young adults are being fed...

I didn't read the suspect passage in the book, but from what others are saying it is not age appropriate for the children required to read it. I think it's hilarious how libs go crazy about mentioning Jesus or God in the schools, but they are okay with this. The solution is to raise your children with the family values and morals consistent with your church, temple or mosque's teachings and hope that the libs don't corrupt your kids in the classroom. In the end they won't, good trumps evil.
